There was also a lot of water on the runway which helped the effect. All four engines are still good though, thats the main thing. We will keep her active as long as we can and we also hoped to have 558 appear overhead in a couple of years time too! Watch this air space!!

Those old Olympus’s on 655 are a bit smokey now, looks like an old mini-cab with worn pistons rings………… 😉

But better to be old, smokey and ACTIVE than scapped for razor blades…. 😀

Just to calm any CAA employee who reads the thread. 655’s main wheels were kept firmly on the tarmac at Wellesbourne.
655 achived 80 knots before the engines were cut and the air brakes were popped! To help slow her down Sqdn Ldr David Thomas lifted the nose for a few seconds to aerobrake.

Phew!

Forget the correct spelling, it’s just nice to see ‘655 looking so good.

Are we ever going to have the correct spelling of ‘Airborne’.

Just ‘cos Key use the superfluous ‘u’ there’s no need for the rest of us to follow suit is there?

Well, it was presumably the same photographer, Michael Baldock, in both cases!
