Just wondering if any of our North American members can shed any light on the current condition of the Vulcans in the US and the lonely example in Canada?

lovely 36 pics, can’t wait until I get to see one in the, er, magnesium.
I’ve got a few more (about 100) of the aircaft at the Castle Air Museum. If anyone wants to see them I’ll make up a new thread with a few pictures on.
No, I donβt think so…..if I was that close to a B-36…
…Vulcan…..what Vulcan? π
To be honest I was exactly that. I’ve seen the Vulcan fly back in the late 80’s and early 90’s and had seen a few on display in recent yearsbut I’d never seen a Peacemaker. Ding!

Okay, I only took two pictures. Dammit! I spent ages slobbering over the other aircraft taking pictures from all angles and I get two for the Vulcan. Shame on me…

XL361 had a CF101b Voodoo with her at one time?

XM573 as has been said is under cover at the Strategic Air and Space Museum in Nebraska.
XM605 is in the open at Castle Air Museum in California, along with other aircraft
XM606 is in the open at the Eighth Airforce Museum in Louisiana, along with other aircraft.
XL361 is in the open sitting in the middle of Goose Bay Airport/airbase all on her lonesome.
XM605, XM606 and XL361 are all clearly visable on Google Earth.

How many are actually in the US?
To my (well, Wikipedia’s) knowledge there are three Vulcans in the USA.
One at the Strategic Air and Space Museum, Ashland, Nebraska. One at Castle Air Museum, Atwater, California. And one at the Eighth Air Force Museum at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.

Tailspin, any chance of posting some of your pics of her?
I should have a pic or two somewhere. I know I did take a few pictures because I submitted them to a Vulcan website. Whether they were added to the gallery or not is another thing.
I’ll have a rummage tonight.

Which AC are at which location?
My guess is that of the ones in the U.S., Barksdale’s would be greatest cause for concern. Humid weather, storms, etc.

I believe there is one at the 8th Airforce Museum at Barksdale AFB in Louisana
it has appeared to be sitting outside for along time

I visited the Castle Air Museum last year and took a few pictures of XM605.
It looked okay but probably could do with a spring clean and lick of paint.

just perusing google for any possible scale three view drawings of the vulcan, and found a good 5 pages of walkaround photographs of XM606
http://www.primeportal.net/hangar/bill_spidle2/avro_vulcan_b2_xm606/
she looks to be in fairly decent nick, compared to the aircraft next to her (look at the elevators to the left in the first picture)

The one in the Strategic Air Command Museum in Nebraska is under cover…so I’d expect it to be in good shape.
