I thought it wasn’t allowed to carry adverts because of the Lottery money?

Here’s an idea…
The things thats been worrying me is that her current paint job doesn’t lend herself to adverts very well…
How about all over white so that the sponsors logo’s are nice and easy to see… I can just see those huge emirates logos under the wings…
Of course the national markings would have to be toned down as well, so as not to detract from the sponsorship…

As a regular contributor too the TVOC forum since it’s creation and a member I watched the forum police become increasingly anal about the content being posted though at times some of the personal bickering between certain members needed cutting out I do suspect that threads were clipped as a damage limitation exercise, the final decision too close it too all but members probably had it’s roots there and remains a great mistake.
The TVOC has always been very miserly in the information it has broadcast though it has been my experience that the best way to entice them to say anything pertinent at all is too call them direct and ask as they were never known to answer questions via the forum, even though this was the most direct line of communication with the general interested public.
As too the flying/display side of things, here again they have not been very forthcoming over time leading to a general feeling that 558 could possibly be expected too fly on a regular basis once the test flight series had been completed, I suspect that in truth even with major sponsorship on board she will fly very little during the season possibly four or five displays at best and then only at the major venues as the cost involved will be so high that few but the largest air shows will be able to justify the charges involved.
While I am pleased that a Vulcan has again flown and it will I am certain complete the test phase of it’s return to flight to gain a Permit to fly, I have grave doubts that the final outcome will please the thousands of members of the public that have supported and contributed financially too the project over the years and that this support has only produced in effect a very expensive semi-static exhibit, occasionally flown and in a continual state of financial crisis until finally retired. adverts or not.

Couldn’t they get a bank to sponsor it – seems the most appropriate to me!
What, Northern Rock? :diablo:

i read the bulletin on their website as a cause of their closure, and i think you’ll find that it was closed to the general public, due to a large number of pornographic posts being posted there? or am i wrong?
I saw that on the annoyncement too and I was a regular poster on the forum there and I never saw anything pornographic lol, I did hear about some abuse of members, which was another reason given.
It’s just a shame really that they’ve closed it to non members, I can’t afford to pay rent let alone be a club member, I gave money when I could but i’m a little annoyed to be honest.
I can definitely understand why it’s been done though, don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to loose sleep over it 😀 lol

well partly to do with fund raising, the tvoc website have recently closed the forum unless you have donated (over the internet i believe – not sure) or are a club member, if they need moremoney why do this. i always thought the vulcan was the “Publics aircraft” (are something along those lines). If you need money why close one of your key media sources?
Thanks, ive had my moan

……………and I opened up this post thinking that I was about to be told how they fix the banner to the Vulcan in order to tow it without it being incinerated!

602 is the cockpit the children go and spend time in. it is mounted in a purpose built jig . with steps leading in from the rear. all safe and above board, and a very good thing for the kids adults etc to go in and see what its like inside a Vulcan.
you will also notice on the video clip strict commands of no running and other rules . its all H&S and works very well .

I didn’t see the footage but are you sure it wasn’t XM602 they were in? that would make more sense 😀
You may well be right; but all the children were wearing ‘high vis jackets’ and from the film edit they seemed to be around the main airframe in the hangar.
The view up into the cockpit was from a low position looking through the access hatch – and implied the main airframe – I’m not sure how ‘602 is mounted and whether such a view would be possible.
At least all the children were warned not to run in the hangar!

Radio Lincolnshire said the adverts will be in the bomb bay, so it won’t affect the Lottery fund conditions.

After all the restrictions of a CAA approved work area during the re-build phase; what perplexed me in today’s film was that the school group that were visiting XH558 at Bruntingthorpe were allowed inside the cockpit!

What might an advert say?
“For sale. One Vulcan Bomber. less than an hour total time since restoration. Bargain at only £…….. Two previous owners. Any trial.”

That will look authentically ‘cold war’ and help it in its role of teaching the younger generation all about how we terrified the Ruskies.
Great opportunity for the Falklands Islands Tourist Office too.
