I though XL318 was the only Vulcan to be moved? Any idea how they moved this one?

The Americans have better budgets which is to their advantage.
A bit of generalization…but some large private museums are well funded. Likewise, some community-based concerns. Others are strictly low budget volunteer affairs, just like the UK.
Allen, Arangos, Weeks, Yeagan, Sessions, et al. are the exceptions.
Occasionally, museums get govt. Help, the Air Mobility Command museum saved a C-119, with significant Korean War history, from the scrapper. AMC transported the aircraft from California to Dover, Delaware inside a C-5.
Nice to have friends.

A B-58 will be moving from Illinois to California next year, it will be interesting to see how they do that….
The wings on the B-58 will have to be cut for truck transport. The B-58 wings were integral to the build, so no easy disassembly points/joints. Lessons were learned from TB-58 move from Texas to Little Rock in 2011.

But the American bombers likely had parts of their wings removed. Easier with your typical swept wing jet, but with a delta with a broad chord….?

I don’t think it was broken down for transport more than likely just towed there as the Vulcan is quite small compared to most of the American bombers of the day.

This video may help a bit – I have not had time to watch it all yet but should give a clue as to the amount of work involved in the 25 mile (ish) move.
