Vulcan XH558 Farwell Tour – Question Victor XH648

Hello,

I’ve just been reading about the Vulcan XH558 Farewell tour, were they are planning to fly over every complete V-Force airframe in the UK.

http://www.vulcantothesky.org/news/670/82/Salute-to-the-V-Force-Tour.html

Is anybody able to tell me why the Duxford based Victor (XH648) is not included in the list of complete Victor airframes? My only guess it was converted to a K.2P tanker from a B1.A and therefore was no longer considered part of the ‘V-Force’?

I really don’t understand the issue, it is overflying Duxford as part of the tour, so what’s the problem?

There isn’t is there?

Btw the designation B1a(K)2p means two point conversion (mk20 pods) but no HDU. The bomb doors are still fitted. I believe it is the only two pointer that survived complete.
You’re better off asking Roger Brooks for all the details……

On the map I have seen of the tour and proposed fly overs, both the Vulcan and Victor are silhouetted against Duxford!

They were made aware of the omission (by several people) when the list was first published. The omission was referred to in the next trust ‘Newsbytes’ on June 2nd: http://mxm.mxmfb.com/rsps/m/QeWlMfVzPrmkzEzaQvjGVAGHtOs-AsTTwDN4H9MrxS4:

Thank you to the readers who kindly informed us we had missed one complete airframe off our list on Friday. That is a Victor that sits in an exhibition hall at Duxford. Our apologies for the oversight and this is now duly listed and will be highlighted when we show the list again in an upcoming newsletter. Duxford was already on our list to overfly due to a Vulcan there, so at least no major change of plan is needed. Once again, our apologies.

I don’t know why they haven’t updated the list on the V-Force Tour page though.

I know XH648 was only “parked” at Duxford. Officially it was still on the RAF inventory. I am talking about the ’70’s/’80’s though.

Perhaps the Victor is included anyway because of the Vulcan at Duxford, listed in the LH column.
