I know Local Live is more dated than Google Earth, but two Belfast are present, along with an Algerian IL-76 which if I remember was not all that many years ago.

Weird! I know that the images in these databases are of variable dates, but the images of London on Local Live are fairly recent as they show the car that I owned from December 2004 to December 2005 outside my house!

The image of Southend on Multimap seems to be of similar vintage (the blue-grey 748 on the western end of the main ramp appears on both) and in that image, XL428 is on the main ramp. There’s a clear division in the Local Live image running E-W just above the main ramp where images have been stitched together so I’d guess that the Vulcan had moved between its usual place up by the railway and the main ramp when these shots were taken and the images used just happen to be the ones with the Vulcan “somewhere else”!

So what’s the background to this (ie Bruce’s involvement)?

Been away from the forum so apologies if this has been covered elsewhere…

Going slightly off topic, I know that lots of people have references on here to Google Earth, and the Vulcan can clearly be seen at Southend. But does anyone use http://local.live.com/ There is a distinct absence of XL426 at Southend, I have looked ( I think ) everywhere but she’s gone!

Anyone know where.

I’m curious to know what call-sign the Vulcan uses during its fast taxy runs.

Ron, it’s just ‘Vulcan’, that’s all. But I guess she doesn’t need to diferentiate between all the other Vulcans at Southend! :p
