Vulcan XM573 Nebraska

There is a fellow looking into getting old 573 freshened up and looking her best once more.. This past weekend they were able to open the entry hatch and gain access for inspection. The pictures say it all…!
Anyone have a spare engine start panel on their bookshelf??

That’s amazing given how long it was outside for. Is it still in the big hangar there Peter?

I would imagine the seat’s were deactivated. There are a couple of bits missing from the nav station too . Also from what I hear it has had two engines removed and out on display…

Great set of photos, and yes it looks very well preserved (complete with a set of sick-bags…lol).
I assume the seats have been deactivated at some point since it’s last flight?

It looks like the crew flew to Offutt AFB, shut it down and went to the Officer’s Club to begin enjoying their trip to the States.

4 day’s worth of ‘stripping’ went into XM594’s cockpit in 1983; completed just in time for NAM’s volunteers to book in at Scarle to start buying most of it back again!! 😉

🙁 I guess that they had a different deactivation team go out to Canada!!

Looks like they parked it up and ‘decommissioned’ it by taking the start box with them 😎 … Suppose that was an easy and effective option.

Yes :diablo: Well, no, it’s not ‘spare’ unless the right sort of swapsies came up :p

That cockpit is in excellent condition, and as Fox says, a time capsule. Would love to have a ‘sniff’ after its been shut up all this time. I just love the smell of 50’s jet cockpits 😀 The Mrs hates it though, and complains bitterly about why my study smells of ‘manky old aircraft’
