This Waddington Airshow will be the last time you will see XM607 close up, as it will be moved to a position outside Hanger 3.
A final resting place has been agreed on site at RAF Waddington, where it will be displayed after the air show in such a way it will be difficult to move XM607 for the annual airshow there after.

Isn’t she still a MoD airframe…? If so that is also a major problem.

I also do agree, but unoffical fundrasing at a charity based events is a mine field in legal terms.

MM,the idea is ok,but at Duxford they have a collection “bomb” for the Blenhiem and also a collection for Sally B [i think].Maybe this would dilute funding for these aircraft, just a worry.Everyone has a choice granted.

Thats just what I had in mind RobAnt.
Not sure how much would be donated but every little helps.

The airshow is a business and grants money to its choosen charities.
True, but nothing to stop a collection – a nearby bucket suitably signed would bring in a few bob for starters.

I have not seen her for a few years but she was had a good lash of paint on her the last time I saw her. I doubt the airshow would pay to paint it. The airshow is a business and grants money to its choosen charities.
I will hopefully see the FS in charge of 607 in a few weeks time, and will ask about its long term care and will get back with a posting later in the month.

No point in painting it if you going to leave it outside
I know what you mean, but better to say, ‘if you have to leave it outside, paint it regularly’.
Several a/c have survived bad outside periods thanks to regular painting…

I’m no expert, but parked outside isn’t safe but a long slow fade away. Look at Duxford’s Victor and others.
Bit sad about this 🙁
🙁 I did’nt think it was THAT long ago it was painted up and rolled out ,but looking at her now,a sad sad sight.

How much would it cost to repaint XM607.
Would they not be able to get donations at this years airshow.

They have no current funding to re paint or restore. 607 has ‘care & maintenance’ only. But she is safe.

Gawd I read the title of this thread and thought she was about to be scrapped.

Are they planning any cosmetic restoration/repaint of the Vulcan before it is moved to it’s new location?
