WoW!!!
XM655 sure is looking in much better health now! The postponing of taxi runs was very beneficial in the aircrafts long term preservation as areas of concern were able to be addressed on the airframe that may have otherwise been delayed..?

I shall pass on your comments to the 655 team. There is only a handful of volunteers, who work on her 50 weekends of the year. Industry has helped restoration, includng Beagle Aircraft Co, BAE Systems and Dunlop.
XM603 is in limbo! They were allowed to run each engine to idle, but not all 4. Then last year someone looking out of the offices asked where does the fuel go when the RJ,s come back for servicing. The answer was the Vulcan has it. Thus XM603 was full of fuel and H&S went into orbit about it.

If you recall that 655 practically rotted away over the 15 years of neglect the previous owner gave her, then it’s even more impressive.
Not running 655 for 2 or 3 years has given the maps team opportunity to get her looking in good shape. Well done to them!

Woodford Vulcan
Speaking of Taxiing Vulcans..is the Woodford Vulcan XM603 capable of moving under it’s own power or do they limit it to static engine runs? I heard that the public are no longer allowed to see the engine runs either. is that due to H&S reason or insurance? or both?

Should be a good day, the Sea Vixen is due in for a flypast as well as the Red Arrows. All proceeds go towards the up keep of 655. Only £3 to get in.
Since the photo was taken, the probe is back on and the top side fully re painted.
