Vulcans?

I don’t know if anyone can give us a hand with this question, are there any vulcans that are in good worthy flying condition, anywhere in the UK or in fact even the world?

If so can someone give me any info or pics of it/them or point me the right direction as to where i can get the info from.

Many thanx. 🙂

RE: Vulcans?

Last time I saw a Vulcan fly was at the Battle of Britain 50th at Boscombe down. I was at the end of the runway by the car park where she pulled up ready to go. Throttles got advanced to 80 % to check T’s and P’s and then brakes off and firewall the loudlevers.

That olympus scream still sends shivers down my back and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up thinking about it.

I got a brilliant video of the take off run and she rotated just level me…..then the sound of her engines was drowned out as 500 car alarms went off !!!!!. I was not best pleased is the polite way of saying what I want to say !.

However, ya never know, one day ???

cheers

Thanks Kev and Ant. Some very helpful info, and that website was alot of help too, very well structured.

Its a shame that there are nun flying, I have never seen one up close, and I’d like to. They look like such a fasinating aircraft to see, and perhaps to one day again Watch. 🙂

Hi Andrew,
Damien B’s Thunder & Lightnings website has excellent info on all the world’s surviving Vulcans amongst other types. There’s loads of other interesting stuff on there aswell,so make sure you’ve got a fair bit of time available before you click the link!

RE: Vulcans?

Hi, Andrew.

Nice to see you popped into a forum where proper aircraft are discussed (lol)

There are currently no airworthy Vulcans anywhere in the world which is a damned shame as they were a sight to behold. There are several in this country, some of which do fast taxi runs but I’m a bit sketchy on details. I know there are Vulcans at Cosford, Coventry, Southend?, Wellesbourne Mountford and I believe one or two other places. I know you can obtain access to the cockpit at Coventry as long as they have a volunteer available.

However, there is a Vulcan based at Bruntingthorpe in Leicestershire which was the subject of a Heritage Lottery Fund bid in order to get it airborne again. Unfortunately this failed but the group are stilltrying to see if they can find anyway of getting the aircraft back in the air.

I’m sure someone else will jump in and fill in the details for you and provide some links. In the meantime, I hope this helps.
