Does anyone know the registration of the FW190 coded OO-90 that attended the Cranfield rally 1984. Its got a yellow nose with the Swashstika painted over.

My photo used above was taken at Norwich. 26 June 2010 ! It stayed here for a few weeks (I think) ?

Reg’s.
G-JABO was sold to the S.Laver (who subsequently also bought the remains of G-WULF) but for some obscure bureaucratic reason, the CAA never changed the ownership listed to the new owner. The CAA has a rolling policy of de-registering a/c that remain inactive.
.
The original reg’ of any a/c, however, still stays with any airframe and may be reactivated. Reg’s may not be transferred. If an Out-Of-Sequence Registration is purchased, neither it, nor the a/c’s original registration may be transferred.

Thanks.
I might have been tempted before the RV, but the single seat would have made it it hard to get spending approval. 😉

G-WULF is a shell with all its internal bits in boxes. Soon the be restored back to flight.
G-JABO is structuraly completed and just need the be titivated and the the Fibreglass outer skin appling then all the fiddly bits fitting. All parts to complete are with it including plans and materials.
G-JABO will soon be up for sale.

Strange that this one has a converted VW (according to the above info, anyway). I’d always believed that the W.A.R designers had originally opted for a VW in the prototype ‘190 replica, but replaced it with a Continental O-200 because the VW wasn’t gutsy enough?

….the way it was Cranfield 1984!

What’s the status of G-JABO?
It appears to have had its registration with the CAA cancelled.

Can you get that spot on the outside of the window?

OO-90 is an example built in Belgium by Mr. G.Titeca. Power is provided by a converted VW-engine on this aircraft , but there are examples flying around with other powerplants.
Of note is the modified swastika on the tail. The nazi-symbol is indeed still a subject of debate in the low countries and the aircraft builder found it safer not to paint the actual symbol on his aircraft. His modified symbol does not compromise the otherwise accurate paint scheme too much.

Took me about 45 seconds using Google.

There are only two on G-INFO, one of which was not built in 1984
Which is not to say that there haven’t been others.
