W/CDR R. G. HURST 226 SQUADRON

W/CDR R. G. HURST 226 SQUADRON

I would like to ask forum members for help regarding Wing Commander Ralph George HURST who was killed in action on 04-07-1941 whilst serving with 226 Squadron. I have London Gazette and CWGC details but would like to trace further sources including hopefully leads on a photo. I am also looking for information and photos for his two crew members who also died with him: F/Sgt Reginald John GREEN DFM and F/Sgt Thomas Clifford DAVIES DFM. I have LG details regarding their DFMs.

Any help or advice will be most gratefully received.

With kind regards – Malcolm.

For some reason I have a book here inside of which is a letter written by F/Lt Ralph G Hurst as he then was in 1939, serving with 226 Squadron 72 Wing in France.

It is dated 8/10/39 and written to someone he addresses as Bob.  It is quite amusing, covering 3 1/2 pages.

I have no idea why it is here and would be pleased to send it on to Malcolm above or any of Hurst’s family.  Or indeed “Bob”.
