That’s the plan – when it all gets sorted out! 😉

I understand there are several updates due to go on the NAM website tonight – but sadly none about the R1!! 🙁

I’ll post on the ‘Briefing Thread’ when they’ve gone live! 🙂

Dear oh dear, another mention of Newark… :D:D:D

How do you think (if it all comes to fruition) you would get it there? Dismantling and then road it over?

😉 If you missed Alpha Dispersal – you also missed the aircraft mentioned here! 😀

First time at waddington – didn’t realise there was more ’round the corner’.
There was no map supplied with my ticket……..

Same for me. However I did buy a programme with a map in it and saw a couple of the large mapboards 😮
Thankfully I spotted this area ’round the corner’ – but only five minutes before my transport was due to leave. VERY QUICK scoot around to take a few pics and that was it 🙁

I was given a map when I drove in and there were large maps around the static area. Pity you missed them but at least you now know for your next visit.

There was a very big map near the AMI F-16s.

LOL.

Actually, I have seen a number of extremely worrying posts by spotters on the Mil Spotters Forum board where it was reported that the Red Arrows had sent up nine Hawks on the Saturday (err no, there were only 8) and that the Belgian AF had sent an A340 (err, again no, it was an A330). Oh yes, and a common one seemed to be that there was a Wasp over the other side (err, again no, the AACHF sent a Scout and an Alouette).

Are today’s “spotters” lacking in visual observation skills?

I noticed zero USAF participation ,pathetic (USAF , not the show organisers) and where were all those foreign E3’s promised?

Why does it happen every year? There is always someone left looking like a numpty after an airshow rant!

Msf,
All you have to do is do a search on the web. Many enthusiast forums have dedicated airshow threads. Threads where updates come from the organisers, or specific display teams. On the various enthusiast forums you will also have specific airshow arrivals threads listing the aircraft by serial.

The RAF Merlin was withdrawn due to lack of serviceable aircraft.

The Black Cats were displaying at Goodwood on both days.

How did you miss the USAF assets at the airshow? The Waddington Airshow website provides an air show map. Surely there was also a map/leaflet supplied with your ticket?

All this info available on a quick web search!

At least 2 of the above you mentioned cancelled last Wednesday

French E3F- Due to Operational Tasking
VC10- Aircraft Serviceability

two others were……

Czech Mi24- Operational Requirment
French AF Alphajet Static- aircraft unavailable

Did I not see 2 Navy Jetstreams arrive on Friday? or am I dreaming & I’m sure a Merlin flew or again am I in Lalaland?

I was there both days so can’t quiet remember what flew when other than I think the C17 was Sunday only.

Correct the C-17 was Sunday only. I saw at least one Royal Navy Jetstream arrive on Friday. The Royal Navy Merlin displayed on both days.

Nice C17 on Sunday morning, excellent Chinook display, large USAF static component on Independence Day etc etc!! 😀

You obviously picked the wrong day msf!! 🙁

Hopefully the Waddington Airshow has continued to raise significant funds for some very deserving national and local charities!

Looking forward to 2011 already!! 😀

You obviously didn’t make it round the corner to the Alpha dispersal where there were two Spang F-16s, a Ramstein C-130J, a 100 ARW KC-135R, an E-3 and an Offutt RC-135, so there was USAF participation, albeit static.

Also here (and open to the public) were an AAC Apache and a RAF Puma and there was a rather rare AAC Islander T.3 in the main static lineup.

I was there on saturday ,from the grantham side with little traffic problems compared to Leuchars last year.
I thought that both in and out, the traffic flowed pretty well, considering the number of attendees.
Leuchars take note !

I noticed zero USAF participation ,pathetic (USAF , not the show organisers) and where were all those foreign E3’s promised?

I was happy to see the AMI F16’s, but the timing over run was a bit of a **** up.
A 1730 finish was expected and a lot of people were on the way when the belgian F16 took off.
This, I imagine, was mostly because of some huge gaps elsewhere in the display.

And a giant middle finger to the 2 SACW’s that reversed their vehicles right up to the crowd line and abandoned them for most of the display.

Well done the Czech’s for having a flying display on a BoB show, shame the Poles etc didn’t follow suit.
On the whole , blessed by weather and a relatively good line up.
Shame no F3 flew in the twilight of it’s career but the GR4’s pyro display was excellent and the plastic pig still impressed all.

The RAF only puts on ONE major show a year, this years didnt have a VC10,L1011,C17,C130, sea king, Merlin , Puma, Hawk T2.
The Army sent SQUAT ,bar half the historic flight.
Our fishhead friends couldn’t raise any servicable jetstreams, I presume and the puddy tats must have been taking a nap.
Excellent work by all the civvy participants without whom a major part of the show would just not have happened.
Sadly contractorisation even creeps into supposedly military airshows.

Tasking cannot be to blame for this, or have the entire UK Armed Forces been deployed to Afghanistan?
As I said THE ONE SHOW!

This seems to reflect the downward spiral of UK airshows in general.
Duxford haven’t even bothered to produce a list for so called fighter meet

The new message is-take what your given, just give us your money, and go.

I was there early. I arrived at the A15 gates at 7.00pm and was eventually let in at 7.45. Straight on to the statics before the crowds built up and the blue skies remained.

Some more lovely pics. Were you there early or late to get the clear static shots ? There were some realy nice bits of kit in the static. Its a shame I only had a short time at the end of the day to have a quick look around.

My only criticisms were a lack of toilets towards the 03 end of the runway and the smaller aircraft which missed displaying towards that end entirely. There were a lot of people down our end and smaller items like the AAC, Blades and Seahawk were quite a distance away. I realise that display aircraft work around the display centre but when you have such a long crowdline I feel that it should all be displayed to. Overall I thought it was a very good show.
