Cheers Cometguy! I have to agree re the Reds v. Thunderbirds. After the first few passes the Thunderbirds display was all a bit samey really.

Some good shots 🙂 Spent the weekend working on the pleasure flying helicopters so didn’t get to see much of the display. saw the American Thunderbirds and the reds though and thought the reds were far better. 🙂

I think the Bronco must be one of the noisiest turboprops I’ve ever come across. It may be agile but there is no denying it is noisy too.
This years scheme for the Tucano makes me think of the squadron colour schemes from the 1930’s.

I once heard an American gent say to his pal that he didnt understand how European display teams managed to wring so much performance out of trainers with their lower power.

They are based at Kortrijk in Belgium. More info can be found here on the bird.

I agree – I wonder why not. Where is it based?

Nice to see the Bronco in action, just a shame it doesn’t appear more often.

Cheers Anna.
I’ve been having a bit of a rework of some of the, er, bluer shots.

Not much you can do when the sky was either very blue or very grey!

Nice shots.

SH, Ben cheers. Yep it was a good day, really enjoyable show and a good variety in the flying display. Vulcan, Team Viper and the WWII heavies were the highlights for me.
TG cheers for the hints and tips. I was on auto for a couple of them, mostly TV and AV on advice of a photographer friend.
I’ve had a bit of a play with them in photoshop, mostly to level up the slopey ground shots! Struggled a bit with the sky, the excessive blueness is probably down to my ham-fisted editing on a less than brilliant laptop, but I’ll get the hang of it. In fairness, the sky was either brilliant blue, hazy white, or rather black at various times during the day.
And yes it was a great day, roll on next year! 😀

Hey Blue_2,
You took alot of pics haha… goodstuff… Not bad for a first outing with the new stuff right?? Only a few remarks (hope you don’t mind me saying but they will improve your picture taking)
what picture mode were you on? Auto? or P? cause you seem to have suddenly freezing props. Use Tv for instance … Get like 1/320 for Props, 1/400-500 for Turboprops and 1/800-1250 for fast Jets… This wil give the Prop aircraft alot of motion. and the faster shutterspeed will keep the Turboprops and Jets sharper… Don’t hesitate to boost up your iso for the faster shutterspeeds so you can keep you aperature a bit squeezed..
Do some minor editing, because some pictures are quite a bit blueish. You can even get more out of your picture if you shoot in RAW mode… only downside thing is that this eats memorycards haha…
But these are a good summary of the airshow and i see you had a nice time, which was the most important thing… right?

Well done, Blue – great stuff.:)That Belgian F16 is pretty near the top of my favourite singleton displays.

Not bad 🙂

Bronco and others
Home team AWACS
Nimrod replacement Rivet Joint (boo!) flew a disappointingly high flyby
Grob
The King Air impressed
Really not sure about this year’s Tucano display scheme
They jumped from a perfectly good aeroplane…
The Bronco was a first for me. And I was VERY impressed, hope I get to see this nimble little machine again soon

Hope I haven’t bored you all…

Viper and Vampires
Team Viper first, a great display from a 5 Hunter outfit

My Second favourite Hunter after Miss D

The Norwegians brought 2 Vampires to play. Nice to see a single seater for a change!

Next (and last you’ll be glad to hear!) the best of the rest
