I have been advised that NAM has benefited from a few visitors today that had been hoping to pay on the gate at Waddington.

Also there were some weather delays this morning to the helicopter shuttles, but everyone eventually made it over to Waddington – albeit a bit later than planned.

Some quick thinking saw helicopter tours (ground based viewings) and photo opportunities for the waiting passengers fill in some of the time.

I don’t know if this will help anyone but here goes!

NAM has been receiving lots of calls today about sourcing Waddington Airshow tickets – one of the members of staff has made several calls and established that Morrisons in Newark has tickets available and these should be on sale until 9pm tonight. It may be worthwhile calling the store before you travel to get some!

Pleased to have been of some assistance waco; but just think where else could you go to this weekend and see a Viggen, Draken, Vulcan, 2 MiGs and 70+ other airframes?

What’s better you could perhaps even stay dry for part of the visit – plus no need to book a ticket in advance!

In the circumstances I understand that the staff and volunteers at this location have been advised to expect some extra trade!! 😀

Waco, the following news release was sent to me this morning by the Airshow media team:

RAF Waddington International Airshow Ticket Sales Reach Capacity

With the RAF Waddington International Airshow only days away, the organising team are delighted to report that advance ticket sales are at a record high, with enclosures already sold out for this year’s Airshow (5 and 6th July). There will not be any tickets for sale on either day of this year’s show.

On –line ticket sales have now closed but advance tickets are still available until Friday 4 Jul 2014 from branches of HSBC and Morrisons Supermarkets (Please check the Airshow website for local participating branches).

To re-iterate, visitors are advised to buy their Airshow tickets in advance from participating outlets but no tickets available on the gate on Saturday 5th July and Sunday 6th July.
The organisers are keen to stress that unless visitors are in possession of an Advanced-ticket prior to travel that they will not gain entrance to the Airshow.

NOTES TO EDITORS
• The RAF Waddington International Air Show is one of two RAF air shows held annually to promote the work of the RAF, stimulate recruitment and demonstrate the RAF’s capabilities. All profits are donated to Service and local charities. Over the past 19 years the annual air show has raised £3.2 million for charity.
• The Air Show is in its 20th year and in 2013 attracted a record crowd of 148,000 visitors to the event.
• RAF Waddington is a fully operational RAF Station and is located 3 miles south of Lincoln.
• Advanced tickets are discounted and the organisers encourage advance purchase as there will be none available on the gate.
• All aircraft participation is based on operational commitments, serviceability and weather; aircraft may cancel their participation with little or no warning.
• Further information about RAF Waddington Airshow can be found at www.waddingtonairshow.co.uk

hi,
couple of years ago I was on the shuttle bus at the rail station, and a bus inspector came on and said the show was full, so only those with tickets would be admitted. This year I got my ticket before the 26/6 cut-off for booking on the internet, last year did,nt know till 2 days before the show if I,d be able to go, but was able to print my ticket off, don,t know if it can be done this year…

IIRC they closed the gates last year – NAM had extra visitors, some from people taking comfort breaks when stuck in traffic and then after the gates were closed.

Also some travel issues last year around the Newark (A1/A46/A17 junction) caused a few passenger delays for the Airshow Helicopter Shuttles, which are again operating from the museum’s Southfield Site next weekend.

They have had to stop admission in the past due to the numbers attending, I can’t remember the year though.
