Hi All,
Just a few… Well, a lot from Waddington last Saturday! The weather started off terribly with a 2 hour torrential downpour during which myself, fellow forum member and photographer Tom@EMA and several thousand other people ended up absolutely soaked to the skin. Nonetheless the weather cleared up nicely and it turned out to be a fantastic day. These are certainly not up to the standard of TEEJ’s stunning posts, but I haven’t quite mastered the art of airshow photography yet!
Starting off with a few from the ground displays…

Some general aircraft from the flying display:

Great shots! Love the Vulcan images and the rear ground shot of the Typhoon. You’ve certainly got the hang of it! For rotors I normally use 1/200th and for props 1/320th.
Thankyou very much! I would normally drop the shutter speed for the more normal props I shoot at LBA or MAN, but as the subject matter was a bit more interesting and I didn’t want to screw it up I opted for freezing the props but getting useable images. When I learn what I’m doing with a camera I’ll probably be able to pull prop blur off properly!
Thanks for your kind comments, all. Much appreciated. 🙂

Yes. It used to carry a M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon. They were removed during the 1990s. It was remotely controlled from the crew compartment in the B-52H.

Thank you for that TJ i though they did as I think I remember seeing one on the DUX B-52 I guess they were there for the Vietnam War?

Okay, I’m a bit worried. Nice pictures by the way. I visited Waddo on the Sunday. Now, unless it flew out on Saturday night, HOW THE **** DID I MISS THE B52!!! Where was it?

Cracking set of shots Paul. Like the Black & White conversions and that low-level F3 over XH558 is superb.
I really must get a DSLR!
Dean.

Brilliant set of photos there Paul :cool:
Am I right that the Tail of a B-52 had a tail gun in it?

Old meets new… The Typhoon and the Spitfire!

And finally, the Vulcan. This was the highlight of the day for me and I was left absolutely awestruck and stunned after her display.

The Lancaster and the Vulcan… Stunning!

It really was incredible to see such a piece of British aviation history back proudly where she belongs… In the air! Congratulations to the team who brought her back to life, and thankyou to them for allowing me to take a glimpse back to times in aviation I was born too late to witness. The experience of seeing this incredible aircraft in the air will stay with me for a very, very long time.
Also, thanks to Tom Gautier for keeping me company and putting up with me for the weekend. Cheers mate!
Thanks for looking. 🙂
