I think it’s close enough to ask the question now…
I’m off on the Saturday, prayer mat’s already out for good weather! ๐

I also have a little wartime charger with a JAP engine you may have noticed it. Its been stood in my shed for years and i guess its nbot been started in decades, put petrol in it the iother day and it fired first pull. After a quick clean of the brushes it pushed out 9 amps with variable voltage between 10 and 40 it can charge all our batteries.
We have had trouble starting after ten runs.
This little motor is started plugged in and the engine fires instantly every time ๐

I made it there on the Sunday… the first I knew about Graham’s Spit was when I heard what sounded like a Merlin firing up close to where we were with the classic cars! It looks and sounds awesome! ๐
I don’t know about you guys, but I was mightily impressed with the re-enactors camps.. even if it was a little disturbing that some of the SS were speaking with perfect Sheffield accents. ๐ฎ
Regards,
Rich

It’s a great little buggy Graham- but you’ve got a wobbly offside rear wheel on it I noticed! By the way thanks for letting me have a peek in your Spit cockpit on Saturday too. Can understand Benyboy’s big grin! Hope you sort the cannons, bring it back next year ๐

I can feel my heart beating faster and faster……..
at the thought of all those handsome pilots…
The commentator hadn’t got any better since their appearance at the Fairford shows.
By: Graham Adlam - 6th July 2010 at 10:49
Turkish? I thought he was German :D:D:D I did hear it both days and it didnt get any better.
The mistery of the little ISO car was solved by a chap dressed as a German, got it froim ebay drove 200 miles to pick it up. had to fix all the electrics but runs like a dream now. Made a body for it i knew it had a wood box at the back and used the existing brackets to best guess the shape of the front end
Apparently it was used on Aircraft carriers to pull bombs and ammo around.:)

He was hilarious! I liked that little electric trolley you were trundling about on by the way Graham…:)

Did anyone else find the commentator for the Turkish formation team amusing? He cracked me up. I wouldn’t want to have to listen to that two days in a row though.

Cheers Graham, I had a great time ๐ It does look like it could have been a little bit better though :D:D

We arrived lunch time on Friday and so avoided the traffic. I found it an extremely well organised show and the line up was superb with a few extra practice runs on the Friday. The RAF even sorted out some AV Gass when ours ran low they could not do enough for us and i really enjoyed myself along with the rest of the team.
Saw the Vulcan both days and although its not really my thing it looked majestic. The Typhoon really is a rocket machine and the display with the Spit was superb although their last pass looked a little close for comfort.
I understand the B of B flight Lanc cancelled on Sunday due to the wind which I can witness was a bit of a hooley. If we didnt have a big lump up front i would have been worried the spit would have got air borne.
My highlight is evident from the pictures :D:D:D and seeing a big smile on Benyboys face.

Thanks for the info zoot

Didn’t see a Nimrod MRA.4 fly through (I think it was cancelled prior to the show) and no, there wasn’t a F-4F either.
The highlight for me was seeing the rather rare AAC Islander T.3 ZH004
By: Chox - 5th July 2010 at 11:39
Was the Nimrod’s appearance just the standard flypast then as expected? I haven’t seen any pictures posted anywhere to suggest otherwise so I’m guessing so. Did the MRA4 turn-up? Did the F-4F turn-up as I haven’t seen any photos of that either

Thank you to EN830 for the tickets and to Graham Adlam for letting me have a go in his Spitfire :):):) If anybody does get a chance to have a go I thoroughly recomend it ๐ Thank you to Blue2 for some one to talk aeroplanes to for a bit, my girlfiend (first airshow) was doing well but I must have been getting a bit boring by that point:D
My first Vulcan display since Finningley 92. The maneuvers were not as rivet popping as I remember but it did not matter one bit. It was still awesome in every way. When those throttles go forward, it goes into the climb, the sun glints off the upper surfaces, all that noise and the lovely wing over at the top it is still magic.
The Vulcan was Magic but it was difficult for it to steel the show this year, the display was quality all the way through and went on for ever. High lights for me being Vulcan, Team Viper, Typhoon/Spitfire, Gr4 role demo, Harrier, Belgium airbus/F16, Reds 8 ship, ect ect ect OK nearly all of it.
The only problem with such a full quality display line up is there were not many of those displays where you think I will have a quick look around while this is on :) still I had a quick look around before leaving and I think even the ground displays were better than last year.
I know I am pratteling on but it is only fair, last year I (like many) realy nocked the show. This year the organisers, be it because they listened to us or just had more oppertunities, created a real quality show.

Great show – Blades, Turkish Stars (what a great commentator!), Vipers, Vulcan are my main memories (in alphabetical order you note, not preference)
By: Creaking Door - 3rd July 2010 at 22:52
Very glad that the Vulcan made it…..and a little surprised…..and a lot miffed that I went last year and not this! ๐
Just been watching this video on YouTube (not the best quality) and it looked a very โspiritedโ display compared to when Iโve seen the Vulcan before (Cosford and Shoreham 2009).

All I can say about today is WOW! Brilliant day, great show, hope it’s as good for you all going tomorrow. Nice to meet Mr. Adlam and his Spit, have your ears recovered from the Typhoon yet?! Hell of a day, Vulcan was the icing on the cake ๐
