Thanks LaHavre. Presumably it was the Thunder Mustang. Very convincing replica.

Great shots Mike. I was there a couple of weeks ago but couldn’t time it right for the show. One question. Whose P-51 is it in the first batch of photos? It almost looks like a Reno Racer in that colour scheme.
Check here..

The usual weather I see.
Wasn’t that nice on Saturday, but Sunday lived up to its name. Normally the mountains in the background have some snow on them but it has been a hot summer and Autumn this year.

Pity I couldn’t make it there this time.
Anyway, looking forward to all the photographs.

With all these pictures about Wanaka I really want to go now! – Have to start saving then.
Archer – Never noticed when I first looked at the thread but you’re right- that’s one short pilot!!

Great photos!
Now is it just me or is the pilot of that second Polikarpov looking a bit on the short side? 😉

One gentleman from the U.K was in the Bristol during the Sunday display…got the comment from him that the DR.1 can pretty close. He has the time of his life.(His name might have been Chris I think) . A Fantastic display.

The Bristol was repaired within two hours or so.Just replacing one or two components on the skids attachment point.
But I must say it took about 5 of us to bring it from in the middle to the crowd line. Then along the crowd line ,around the corner and back to the Alpine Fighter Collection hanger. This I estimate was about 1 kilometer or so !!.
Hope you liked the airshow Mark V. Glad to have you down here.!!

Brilliant photos Alex, well done. They are seriously dramatic – you can feel the essence of the displays just looking at them!
Thanks
Dave

Mike
The grass is a little bit hard and bumpy , which was a bit much for its tail skid and either a bolt or a spring busted ….. nothing too serious ….just did a little plowing for a metre or so 😉

I had the good fortune to help out the WW1 display on the Easter Friday and Easter Sunday.Quite a change from the WW 2 stuff I generally help out with.
My first time seeing the Camel. What a distinctive sound it makes. Not unlike an aero engine only running on half a magneto!!
Unfortunately on the Easter Sunday we had a mishap with the F2 B. Which you may have seen if you were there.
Do you have any shots of the Triplane from your lofty pirch?
