As I cannot compete with the fabulous flying pics taken by others at Wanaka, I offer you here a view of the other things that go on there besides flying.
My first pic is called Shark Bait.

Good heavens Y11F, you were easy to bait!
Next two pics are of the Piston Provost owned by James Slade, who is the new owner of the old OFMC Corsair.
The Japanese markings were very fresh and very temporary and applied with tongue firmly in cheek. Correct translations welcome, but I believe one bit means something like “Please leave your knickers outside the cockpit!” Love it.

These old Country Boys get everywhere don’t they, as for the name of the aircraft, it escapes me for the time being, I know exactly where it is though.

fuel is cheaper out in the colonies
Actually, fuel, not to mention cars, food, clothes, CDs etc etc are cheaper in most places than Blighty.
Favourate location of Routmasters is Victoria, Vancouver Island, Canada. Popular with tourists, it delivers them off the exit platform streight into the trafic, Canadians driving on ‘tother side to Brits. Ouch.

Somebody seems to have taken a tin-opener to that Routemaster. Do they have low bridges in New Zealand?

What is it with colonials and Routemaster busses? There’s probably more down under and in Canada now than in London!
That’s an easy one. Their mpg is pretty tiny and fuel is cheaper out in the colonies. They were no longer economically viable in the U.K..
The other possibility is that colonials are just nuts!
Mark V: Was that your Spitfire graffitti in Queenstown? Is the camouflage pattern correct!

Thanks for the pics! Very nice.

Robbo: Of course you’re right.
Moggy: I do like the Bearcat answer. Mmmm Grumman! Has anyone got a photo of the Bearcat’s recently inflated tyre? Fat chance!
JDK: Ouch ouch ouch! I’ll bear that in mind.

Hawker HAIRicane.
Paws for thought. After a bear moment, here’s an answer. It’s obviously a Lend Lease or Eagle Sqn aircraft – a Teddy Roosevelt Special.
Ow.

I also spotted an English Mustang owner, but his aeroplane was nowhere to be seen … possibly hiding?

Mark V: I saw the Cessna land after the Spitfire photo shoot, so I guess I must have seen you.
I thought I saw someone who looked like Skybolt too in the Gold Pass area.
