Want a cheap flight?

… how does £0.00 sound?

Hi Guys,

I’ve just got an email from RYR informing me that they are giving away flight free of charge.

‘This is one of our best ever flight offers. We are offering you the chance to travel in Europe from October to November 15th and not pay a cent. This incredible flight offer has no taxes or charges.’

This offer seems to apply on selective routes from most of their major bases.

Take a look for yourself here.

So just £8 charge return? Not 2x£8? (that might be a bit much)

And Sam, I haven’t actually flown FR beforem, but I feel the same about EZ. Never been uncomfortable on one of their flights, but I flew with TCX to greece this year and was appauled by the lack of leg room. I also always stand by bringing a magazine and iPod and buying food in departures for short haul flights. Who needs IFE and rubbish food?

Nope they charged 3 x £8 total return (for the 3 people) to my credit card (credit card fees), and 3 x 2p for the actual flights. So it came to £8+£8+£8+£0.02+£0.02+£0.02 = £24.06

Still cheap for 3 ppl tho !

Regards,
Andy

Are these £0.00 fares erm, without tax because we know what Gordan Brown is like. If it is, then great £0.00 for return LBA-DUB-LBA.

But what worrys me is, how can Rynair get a Boeing 737-800, ok it is a short hop, up in the air for 0.00. Surley they cant, or do they make there money from Emergency Business Men who will pay £450 to get to DUB the next morning.

Over 60% of Ryanair’s profits come from not-flight sales relates revenue.

Exactly, you hit the nail on the head there yourself. Like most businesses, Ryanair have ‘deals’ where they often make a loss, but then make a gain on people who don’t have much choice. Last week we had a couple of pilots stuck out in Faro…..TAP was £400 single because only seats available were in business, the charter carriers were full-up, so we had to pay about £120 per person for them to get back on Ryanair. So what? Every business has to make money some how. Supermarkets do it….they sell certain products at zero profit, but then make a profit on other items due to the fact that people are unlikely to bother going to two different supermarkets for their weekly shop.

There are some “free” flights that include charges and there are some 1p flights without charges. Depends when you want to fly. Too late now anyway.

Wouldn’t fly RYR if THEY paid ME! 😡 “Best” is a relative term

A

Wouldn’t go as strong to say this, but I tend to avoid flying with FR as far as possible (i.e just flew LHR-DUB-LHR on BD, great flights!), but I suppose I would have no option to choose them if they served a route that I needed to fly on an emergency basis…which is very rare at the best of times!:)

Remember, the legacy carriers have been forced to slash their fares in order to compete with the LCC’s that operate on the same/similar routes, so although their fares maybe slightly more expensive (I paid £59rtn for my flights to DUB on BD!) I feel that that extra is well worth it to be honest, and even then I didnt get a choice of seats or any free food whilst onboard!

3 of us went to Dublin last Tuesday and all we paid was 2p each !!!!! – however, they charge you £8 to use a debit card (per person, even though it was booked on the one card !). Still….it only came to £24.06 in total for 3 people RETURN !!!!

Not bad, eh !

Ryanair are a good airline as far as i’m concerned, and definitely the best value for money! (or not in this case :p)

I’d much rather fly Ryanair over a charter airline any day!

Why?

I usualy find the people who say they would never fly with Ryanair are the people who have done just thatm never flew with Ryanair, so really, dont have a clue what they are talking about.

Bear in mind that no-frills isn’t for everyone, even if a ticket is costing just a few pence a time.

Myself and fellow forum member, A330Crazy, took advantage of brilliant fares from Gatwick to Dublin last Wednesday and had some good flights; both departed bang on time, boarding was not as unpleasant as I had expected, the inflight service was fairly priced (considering the cheap fare) and the crew could just about be understood.

For day trippers, Ryanair is perfect, but for longer trips, when you have to start adding baggage to your booking, the price seems to spiral out of control.

Well of the 30 or so flights i’ve had with Ryanair, not one single complaint at all ! – they are a no frills airline, and if you’re only paying 2p for a flight then come on !, what do you expect ?, you cannot really grumble !.

I’ve never had a delay of more than an hour with them, 90% of the time the flights have been within 15 minutes of schedule. So i definitely recommend them 110%.

HI,

I have booked 6 flights in total… from LPL to BVA,(X2) for November and Dublin in October, (day trip)

Used Visa Electron, the flights were £0.01p with NO TAXES, as no hold luggage is requie etc is required.. total cost £0.04 for 2 people.

I took the time to look at all the routes at the time the offer came online (around 04;30am) and thety were a more freebies than i expected.

Cheers

Rick

Or you could do what I did, applied online for a Halifax Easycash account which comes with a Visa Electron card. Visa Electron is the only card on Ryanair which doesn’t get charged, so I’ve just booked 5 return trips for a grand total of zero pence!

Exactly what I did!

Although Ryanair have themselves said it is only a matter of time untill they add a charge on to a Visa Electron transaction.

Ive just tried each ‘free’ route from Liverpool and taxes and charges still had to be paid on each flight. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Unfortunately for myself, the flight times don’t allow me to go out in the morning and come back in the evening from EDI (from what I’ve checked anyway) – the turn around time is either too short or I’d either have to stay a night. I imagine it would be ok if you’re looking to go away on a trip though 😀

To correct my earlier post,

There are some 1p flights without taxes. But they don’t seem to be offered during the half term week or at weekends.
