Wanted Flying TSR2 Cockpit Photo

Has anyone got any ideas of where I can get a picture of the cockpit of the actual TSR2 that flew. I will be very grateful as I may have its stick top!! 🙂 🙂

Also rumour has it that 2 TSR2 flew (one at Warton as they needed the data)…is this true?

My uncle worked on Foulness for years – Job Title? …….Range Supervisor !

Sadly passed away some years ago, but he never mentioned the TSR2, although like everything on the island at that time, nothing was ever spoken about in public.

yep Kens got a good collection…..I decided about 3 years ago to stop collecting grips per se and just concentrate on aircraft i like. It has meant my collection is well rounded tho’ smaller now.

Tony,

Wasn’t it the stick top off XR219 that was/is kept as a souvenir by the range guy at Foulness in his office ?

Maybe its the same one ? Or from another TSR.2 ? Anyhow, i seem to recall something about it at the end of this video…….

Talking to one of the chaps at Cosford about the TSR.2 they have there he was very informative and spoke in great depth about what hapenned with a few bits in the aftermath.

One thing I do remember him mentioning was that Roland Beamont was awarded the stick top from the flyer (XR219) and one was also gifted to Jimmy Dell, this is not to say that yours is not from the flyer as they could have used more than one.

The stick top from XR220 at Cosfrod is held in thier stores so if you contact them then you wll be able to find out exactly what the serial number is for cross reference.

When the project was cancelled and everything was scrapped and a lot of the paperwork was also burnt to destroy sensative information, construction records will most certainly have been destroyed and this would be the best place to look to find out exactly where your stick top came from.

Oh and by the way, just for the record, I am jealous as hell !!!!!!!!!!!.

Kindest regards,

John.

cheers all…..it is TSR2 and has significant wear and use marks, is Serial No.1. Would love to prove it was off the flyer! It cost me a fortune, but is worth every penny. It is great that it has ‘come home’, took it to the museum last night and the chaps were impressed!

Only one flew although it did visit Warton so that may be the cause of confusion because not all people check serials. I saw it on static at the Warton families day in 1966 and also flying over Blackpool round that time.
