Hi
After all the discussion about how great it would be to see a Beaufighter/Beaufort / Bolingbroke together I would love to see one of the great artists on this forum do it for us on paper – I will pay – and the same goes for the P47 shots I put up the other day – Do I have any takers – I will donate the finished product to the restorers for auction to raise money to finish the restoration of these aircraft and we could run a Forum auction – a lot of fun!!!
Any takers
Regards
John Parker

My favourite is the Lightnings and from one aviation artist to another they are really, really good. How I envy colour artists.
I worked for a firm of Architects when I left school and was trained in the use of pen and ink, which is why my main output is scale drawings. I have tried to draw and paint in colour and have failed miserably. Instead I do picture drawings in pen and ink. I do a form of cross hatching by drawing lines very close together at different angles, the more lines the darker the area. Using soft and hard erasers, I get the tonal effects. The attached Pitts drawing (they are taken from photographs and are not scanned) from start to finish took 10 day or 42hrs 55min.

Barn owl
Thanks glad you like it, will be seen at this years GAVA exhibition and is available as print if your interestedPaulC
Not sure if I am confusing the Lanc painting with another, but I seem to remember seeing a framed print of this particular painting on display/for sale in the Ante Room in the Officers’ Mess at Duxford a couple of years ago – either way your artwork is simply brilliant, really top notch 🙂

EAA annual art competition
Paul – your paintings are excellent. Do you know about the annual EAA art competition, held each year at Oshkosh? I think your work is on a level that can compete successfully.
In 2003 they held a show of many paintings by James Dietz, and the artist himself was there to tel about his work methods. It was fascinating.
That is another reason for you all to visit Oshkosh Airventure. There are also many many prints of great paintings to buy.
I attach 2 paintings by James Dietz, for those who are not familliar with him. They are smal and do not do justice to him, but that’s what I have right now.
They are really 2 events at the same day, sort of “before and after”. the originals are stunning.

Regarding the Typhoon/Me262 drawing –
To my knowledge it didn’t – hence it piqued my interest!! . . .
I guess you’re saying here that 609 didn’t shoot down any 262s Snapper. The first Me 262 to be shot down was by a 3(F)Sqn Tempest pilot, P/O RW (Bob) Cole on 13 Oct 1944. His kite was JN868 and the 262 was 9K + FL flown by UnterOfficer Edmund Delatowski. Bob Cole closed from 400 to 100 yards and his burst of cannon fire caused the 262 to blow up. This gen from the 3 Sqn historian and also, I believe, in Chris Thomas and Chris Shaw’s book Typhoon & Tempest Story. Seems there were six or seven Me262s shot down by Tempests/Typhoons in 1944 (including one by 486 Sqn) not bad for prop-v-jet.
Also, agree about PaulC’s renderings, very professional, maybe he should apply to the Guild of Aviation Artists (if he is not already a member)

Hi John
Why Malaya? They didn’t have MR31s in Malaya! You’re determined to give this thing legs aren’t you? Please don’t disappoint me at Christmas.
Yes, Virginia there is a Lincoln.

Slight delay on the P47 till someone who is overseas returns to provide content/ feedback. Just a week or so
For reasons which will become apparent quite soon could you think about a painting of an RAAF Lincoln in RAAF markings on a bombimg misson over Malaya – It will be a paying comission – Please respond to my email on parkerj@launch.net.au

Hi Paul
Your work is brilliant! Do you have a website selling and showing off your work?
I would like to showcase some of your work on my website, eHangar.com, which is an online directory of aviation art and aviation artists. The site helps new and established aviation artists show off their works as well as provides a community and virtual meeting place for aviation art collectors and enthusiasts.
Keep up the great work!

Paul, your work is stunning, congratulations. The paintings are gorgeous, and the profile of the 485 (NZ) Sqn Spitfire is one of the best I’ve seen. I am sure that the RNZAF Museum would be interested in selling prints of that if you approached them.
Got any more to show us? Keep up the great work.

It,s an imaginary event as far as I,m concerned however I,m sure somebody out there would know if such an event did occur.
