War Museum Hanoi

Just returned from a trip to Vietnam and thought these images may be of some interest.
The Mig 21 4324 of The North Vietnamese Air Force Regiment 921 was flown by 12 different pilots between 1967-69, who brought down 14 US aircraft in combat, 8 of the pilots being awarded The Heroes of Peoples Armed Forces decoration. The ‘artistic’ debris image shows some of the remains of the 4181 American aircraft shot down in the war between 1964 -73, which included 68 B-52’s and 13 F111’s.

I visited there some years ago – “The Museum of American Atrocities” comes to mind.
Interesting place.

Had the Americans won, the museum would probably be named something like- The McDonalds Museum of Communist Atrocities, where the US would be shown as the saviour of Vietnam etc etc.

In war it’s the winners who write the history, not the losers.

Don’t forget Vietnam is a communist country where propaganda prevails!

I don’t believe anywhere near 68 B-52s were lost in combat…and I also question the 13 F-111s.

While American involvement in Vietnam was ill-considered, it was done with the best of intentions (like the UN action in Korea, to stop the spread of Communism with its Stalin-era systemic human rights abuses) but it wasn’t done as an exercise in colonialism.
