Warbird Adventures – Kissimmee, FLorida. USA

Here are a few photos of my trip to ‘Warbird Adventures’ in Kissimmee Gateway Airport, Kissimmee, FLorida in 2010. Fantastic day out and I got fly a North American SNJ-6 “Texan”.

Really fantastic experience … after being strapped into the parachute and seat the guy introduced me to the pilot and said if he says ‘bail bail bail’ I have to slide a lever to pull back the canopy, pull a clasp to release me from the seat and then bail out over the starboard wing! Nothing like settling my nerves!

I paid extra to have a CD made from cameras on the wing, tail and instrument panel. With instruction you are able to fly it 90% of the time including use of the rudder-bar. The flight went well until the pilot asked me if I wanted to have some fun! … on the CD my voice goes up a few octaves as I said ‘yes okay’. He then preceded to conduct a barrel-roll. On the CD the colour above my head went blue-green and blue again in quick succession and I have to admit that I felt nauseous afterwards but managed to hold everything down as I flew back to base.

Totally recommend it if you holiday in Florida.

The Mitchell here does fly but only if enough people turn up to go up in her … sadly not enough people on the day otherwise that would have been a deream!
