Here’s some photos of the P-40 I thought I’d post. Perhaps it’s a nice change from the norm here. Enjoy! ๐

We can always hope. Thanks for the update.
Anyone know the grand total of P-40’s flying nowadays? Is there a website that has a listing of warbirds and the number that are flying now?

I did hear a while back that Steven Grey had sent his P-36 ‘west’ for rebuild so we might be seeing one sooner rather than later ๐ As for the P-35 Kermit might eventually finish his to taxiing condition or maybe even as a flyer, let’s hope eh?

P-36
I have to agree with you. I’d love to see a P-36 flying again. It would also be interesting to see an old Seversky P-35 flying.

As the rumor mill turns….it was reported on another board that the Paul Allen P-40C is being fully outfitted to combat specs somewhere in CA. Project Tomahawk is also underway in california and substantial sections of fuselage are completed from airframe(s) recovered from Hawaii. Do a google search for Project Tomahawk. There was also a plea in a recent air classics for P-36 parts…this would make a great addition to the current warhawk population as its closest kin.

Hi Phantom,
Thier was one P40C Tomahawk restored to airworthiness by Fighter Rebuilders at Chino for The Fighter Collection at Duxford here in the UK,but shortly after she flew, she was sold on to Paul Allen and has now disappeared into that vast bottomless pit which is his aircraft collection, and hasn’t been seen since.I’ve heard of one or two other Tomahawk projects on the go at present, but I’m not sure how close they are to flying at the moment.
As for Merlin powered P40’s,very few survive in any condition-a wrecked P40L which was dragged out of the Mediterranean Sea a few years back is thought to be the only surviving L-model,albeit substantially corroded and damaged.Thankfully, there is now a P40F project underway at Pioneer Avspecs in New Zealand, and this is being built for Lynette Zuccoli from a heap of badly bent bits recovered from Papua New Guinea a few years ago.The project is in it’s infancy at the moment, and Pioneer have alot on thier plate at present,so it could be sometime before she flies.

Tomahawks, etc.?
I know it’s a futile attempt, but I might as well try and keep this thread alive for a little while.
Anyone know of any Tomahawks that are flying now? What ever happened to that P-40C that was recovered?
Also, what about the Merlin powered Warhawk models such as the P-40F and P-40L?
Anyone have anything?

P-40
Thanks Steve. That is a beautiful P-40. That shark’s mouth in particular is gorgeous.
I’m still awaiting the day that I can see a P-40 in action at an air show. I can’t wait for the sound of that Allison V-1710.
And galdri, I’m glad you noticed I’m a bit P-40 fan. I absolutely love the plane!
Thanks for the link.
(My goal regarding the P-40 is to prove to more people that it wasn’t the failure that many history books make it out to be……or, simply put, that it did just as much for the war effort as the P-51, P-47, etc.)
