A brief visit to Warsaw last week – Flew on Wizz Air from Luton Thursday early AM and returned approx 8pm on Friday. Wizz Air were fine although legroom was not great. Warsaw Etuida terminal was chaotic to say the least – 3 flights all departing within 15mins of each other and check in line was a scrum, lots of queue jumping and general chaos. No baggage belt from check in deck so you had to carry baggage to be put through x-ray machine. Airside the facilities were basic – toilets / 1 shop / news stand / coffee stand. Long queues for each.
Main terminal has an observation deck which only has toilets – no shop for getting a drink etc so stock up beforehand. There is a security check which we set off every time – cost is 4 zloty (about 80p) View is across ramps / runways and is not bad for photography. (see below)
Movements are fairly slow with a ‘peak’ morning & evening periods. During the day it can get a little slow.
We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard which was excellent and if you got the right room you could monitor the approach (if landing from left) Windows at end of corridors allowed other ramps to be seen.

Yes – it has been renamed to Frederick Chopin now. I did not use the ‘old’ terminal though rather the purpose built ‘shed’ Etuida terminal which is for the likes of Easyjet / Wizz / Sky Europe etc. The new terminal is nearing completion and will certainly be a big improvement to the facilities.

Is that what used to be called Okencie when I travelled regularly through 20-30 years ago? It seems to be about the same as it used to be, although the arrival checks during Communist times were the worst!

thanks for the comments. Most taken with Canon 20D + 100-400IS lens – a good combination but even at 100mm was too large for anything over an ‘exec jet size’ that passed in front of terminal. (too cold to change lenses)!
Makes a change to see another Q400 operator other than Flybe at my local.
There were other CASA 295’s of the Polish AF + a Tu154 but these turned up after dark – along with the Romanian Govt BAC1-11 which arrived and departed in the dark.
