Does anyone out there collect wartime Air Force magazines that were created by the Air Force, for the Air Force?
I have begun collecting RNZAF Contact, which is a great social magazine. It includes articles on the war and aircraft, etc, plus persoanl stories, stories of bravery, and loads of humour with regular characters, etc. Also an appealing thing for me is most had covers painted by the late official RNZAF artist, Maurice Conly. At present I have three issues, plus two more electronically which I scanned after borrowing them, and i have 13 issues on their way to me in the post. Yey!
Here’s a small taste of Contact magazine here on my website that I am currently creating. Hopefully much more will go onto the Contact pages soon when the 13 arrive. 😉

I was wondering if anyone out there collects similar magazines from your own country’s Air Force during the war?
I’ve seen one magazine made in Canada (in Motat museum) which as for Air Gunners of the RCAF, RNZAF and RAAF based there. There must be other magazines I suppose.
Did the RAf have an equivalent monthly journal? Or the RAAF, or USAAF? Luftwaffe? etc?

At a car boot a couple of years ago i managed to get about a dozen copies of Real Photographer news from 1941 onwards, does anyone know anything at all about it, is there a web site devoted to this and other old wartime magazines. Any leads would be good as i’ve not seen anything like this before or after and numerous searches on the web have thrown up nothing.

Thanks guys.
Does anyone collect TeeEmm? Is it rare to find?
That’s really interesting Stieglitz, cheers. Interesting covers. The second Der Adler reminds me of a scene in a certain BofB film. And as for the third one, I never realised Griff Rhys Jones was in the Luftwaffe!! 😀

The germans made several aviation magazines during WW2.
One of those was Deutshe Flugillustrierte. This was a magazine made by the goverment about the german aircraft-industry. It shows how great the organization was, with a lot of pics, … Not only planes, but also great Luftwaffe persons are shown in this magazine.
But the most famous Luftwaffe magazine during the war was ‘Der Adler’. It was made by the goverment and lthe top of the Luftwaffe for the german airforce (pilots, enthousiasts, …). But I don’t have any examples of that magazine for now.

There was TeeEmm in the RAF (Short for Technical Memoranda), which was a training aid and featured the infamous Pilot Officer Prune…
