Waste of time at LHR

Today at around 4.00 i decided to pop down to LHR so me and my dad went off to find some good photo spots, it was wet and very very dark due to the clouds, overall i spent half an hour there and only two shots came out okish and even those are crap. When i was there i saw Ethid (or however you spell it), Thai, lots of iberia and BA and a JAL 777 in new c/s. Anyway here is one of the shots, the other one is too big and this one was the worst  ……. 😮

By the way – you can find a guide to spotting/viewing at LHR, at airshows.co.uk. It details all the best locations, and it can be found here.

At the visiting center, It looks like the planes are going a lot slower when landing so the photos would be better (outside though). Shame about the blur

The lamppost is static and the plane is blurred – should be the otherway round.

How were you taking them? Looks as if you were holding the camera still and pressing the shutter as they came into the viewfinder?

Looks like your camera automatically set a low shuuter-speed in the bad light conditions (too dark) and therefore it took the shot slowly, allowing the plane to blur and more light to get into the lens. Try setting the shutter speed manually, and make it higher so that it freezes the plane’s movement. Either that, or wait til a sunny day!

Other than that, nice effects

Thanks for the tips ill try them out when i gop back next weekend!

Heathrow is very good for spotting, and you can get close very easily, be it on foot or in a car.
