Sorry if putting the bbmf watch on here, there’s nowhere else to put it. Thought that it might interest someone on this forum, i was wrong. Theres no point having a debate over it, suppose its alright when your sharing info and posting pictures. I’ve never known a place like it you arp on about aviation and most yet most threads lose the plot by page 1 and wot starts as info sharing ends an argument of whos right and who’s wrong. If you want to shut me up by banning me then so be it, there’s a lot of people on here who know what they are talking about when it comes to aircraft and yet you see them more and more arguing with the stepladder n windbreak men. Dont suppose this will last long.
Ah well nevermind Cheers chris

Is Wixs (? ) attached to a magazine with a small ads section?
Wonder what Keys solicitors/legal eagles would make of this?Flood
No Flood,
But we do have two Magazines that are part of the forum who also have small ads section.
I really can’t see Key getting bent out of shape if its done by Register Forum members and strict rule are layed down.
Maybe its time for Webmaster to weight in on this since tis seems to be a rather hot subject.

Flood, Ashley,
May I suggest you e-mail Scott over at Wixs or stop by and look how we do it over their we do have a few people who are in the Busniess of searching for parts and post stuff for sale.
I know one of the person rather well and He said that his post has generated more interest in his items then any other things.
As he told me he isn’t looking to get rich would like to make a little back but rahter have the items go to someone who needs them for their projects.
I know that Scott has certain rule and we all seem to be live by them.
Cheers

Surely Hairyplane`s Ryan PT22 thread comes under the same category, but does not appear to have generated the same debate. Personally I have no problem with either post!
Phil
philglt,
You are right to point out that the Ryan PT22/Aston Zagato are in the same category as the watch. No difference technically and neither were pulled by the Moderators to my best knowledge.

At least it wasn’t offering cheap viagra like half my emails seem to these days.
JC
You’re lucky you only get Viagra salespeople most of the emails I get these days seem to be not only for viagra but for wedding tackle extensions!  Do you think somebody is trying to say something? :diablo:

Dave – I think I know the forumite you are talking about – without a doubt (if it’s the same person) they clearly came here with the intention of making some money. It is a tricky one this, and there is clearly no solution that will keep everyone happy!

Becka, you may have old mags to dispose of but the last one who contacted me with a view to selling them on the forum wanted at least face value for each copy and insisted that he’d get that here rather than Ebay. Apparently he’d pulled it from there when the highest bid was around a pound a copy. About 30 loose mags from the last four (sorry, five now I guess!) years; he made one post, sent me two PMs, then he disappeared.
That and some tatty camera gear that was grossly overpriced (£300 wanted for a Miranda SLR and two zooms; as I pointed out you can pick up a Miranda or a Petri SLR from the bargain bucket in many camera shops for £20 – I know because I have two that I can’t get rid of myself).

As Mark12 pointed out, the thread in question was not deleted by the moderators. Chris, as I understood it, was looking for a new home for a Breitling watch (presumably in the belief that in offering it to a community of like minded people, it would be more likely to go to someone who will really cherish it) I saw the thread yesterday and decided to leave it. If the Webmaster or others wish to call that a bad call, please go ahead – maybe I was wrong.
However, I do appreciate that such “for sale” threads have the potential to swamp the forum, hence I fully support the notion of a sales/wants forum – an ideal way of finding homes for aviation related items among like minded people. That way, “for sale”/”want” threads will be easy to find in one forum, and those who are not interested in such threads will not have to sift past them to get to the “normal” (:D) threads. I for one have a number of aviation magazines that I would like to see go to a good home (not for profit, but for nothing or a small donation to charity) and such a forum would be a great place to do this. I don’t want to sell them on ebay, as I would rather they went to people who will really appreciate them.
A couple of points though – in my opinion it should be restricted to aviation/military themed items only, there should be no commercial sales whatsoever, and no personal details should be divulged.
Just my thoughts on the subject.

Hi All,
If you have some stuff you would like to unload as it might be said then may I suggest you pop over to Wix and post it on their For Sale forum.
Mk.12 I’m not trying to take traffic from here but since Scott has the forum set up and alot of us bonce back and forth we might as well used it.
I for one would love have seen the Watch, also I really don’t understand if I say have a Control Surface for a Tiger moth that I would like to make avaible for sale why can’t I put up a post isn’t it all of are goal to have Historic Aircraft presevered and if someone has a part then I say let them put it on this Board.
Just my thoughts

I totally agree my friend.
I don’t post here much these days for exactly that reason, and for what it’s worth I know a few others that won’t post either for the same reasons. To many outsiders this forum doesn’t come across as a friendly place to hang out, in fact at times it’s quite the opposite and puts many off becoming members.
Usernamechanged, I think that BBMF watch is superb, and if I had the money I’d have it off yer wrist in an instant! 😀

Mark 12, I totally agree with needing a seperate “sales and wants” forum.

OUR Historic forum
A post about a fascinating BBMF watch – fine.
A post about a fascinating BBMF watch for sale – your call.
Neither this nor the watch thread were pulled by the moderators.
OUR forum members voted me to moderate, I did not volunteer myself.
Open the door and ‘One watch for sale’, however fascinating, will become thirty posts a day for aviation related items in a trice, hence my suggestion that perhaps a separate vehicle within the Key forums could accommodate this and the many others that might follow.

Hi Chris.
Don’t worry about the trivia mechanics, carry on doing what you do.
You’ll always find some drongo who doesn’t like what you say, do etc, treat with the contempt they deserve. I’ve done your job, been on the “Flight” keep the posts coming, it reminds me of good times. F*+k the idiots.
Pass on my regards to the boys, have a good new year.

Please note, I’ve edited this because the original draft would REALLY have offended some people…

if they were aviation books that i thought people on here would like i would give them first dabs, however im not going to get into an argument. see you missed the point already a breitling AEROSPACE watch with a bbmf logo for which i think 12 were done is linked to AVIATION and why not let aviation enthusiast see if they want it.
what happened to the book and camera gear comment

If you want to shut me up by banning me then so be it,
Nothing in this post, or posting the watch, that warrants banning IMHO.
Honestly held opinion, even when it isn’t comfortable, is always welcome here

Chris,
I just wanted to say that you speak a lot of sense and sometimes the truth hurts….
Thanks for posting the pics of the watch – it was stunning and I hope it goes to someone that will really enjoy wearing such a great time-peice
Best Wishes,
