but the run down would need to be 50% longer to achieve the flight distance, which they guessed at 100 feet (By scaling from the “Man” in the air).
I was actually going to say something like that. The speed at which the ‘man’ came off the ramp seemed far too fast for the length ‘he’ had to run down. Ahh well… Seems it’s definitely fake anyway!

It looks fake to me, and there are two things making me think that. Firstly, the angle of the ramp seems far too steep for that amount of distance to be covered. Secondly, as Old Shape says, there’d be nothing left of a real person hitting such a small amount of water at what surely has to be more than 60 miles per hour.
So yeah, my guess is fake!

I had the eggheads and aerodynamicistssitsistssssits lot at work check out the Angle of the jump-off. They said that it was near perfect…..but the run down would need to be 50% longer to achieve the flight distance, which they guessed at 100 feet (By scaling from the “Man” in the air).
Extremely clever though.

Ah, so it was all done to make us rush out and buy Microsoft Office.
Well, the only thing I have to say is: http://www.openoffice.org 😉

Sky News reported it as a fake, albeit very well made.

No way is that real, you would have to be a complete retard to even attempt something like that. The speed seems improbable too.
Got this last week and have studied it dozens of times. It’s damn good. We (At work) reckon the projectile is a crash test dummy (Weight and movements reflect a human). The real bloke was already in the pool. A real bloke would break a lot of bones landing in 2foot6 of water at that speed.
We considered that the whole flying sequence was added, but the splash looks too good, and something quite heavy made the splash.
However, I have never seen a crash test dummy adopt the “Bomb” position just before impact!!!!
If it’s real, the test runs must have been pretty conclusive, he only had to fall short by 1 metre and the wooden deck would have spliced him like a Kipper!
Edit. Is that the rehearsal dummy lying in front of the ski-jump?
