Watson Lake, Part II

A little while I posted a series of pictures taken at Watson Lake, Yukon Territories in the 1943-1945 period, they seemed to generate some interest so I have a few more to share with you.

I have tried to search for the old thread on this subject but cannot track it down, anyway some kind person identified most of the aircraft as being in transit to Russia and I assume that the same applies to this collection. Your thoughts and comments are much appreciated, as always.

Post #8 1st pic looks like a Lockheed 18 Lodestar

Yes, it is. USAAC aircraft used the Northwest Staging Route very frequently for supply/executive missions to Alaskan bases.

Depending upon the engines fitted, it is either a C-56 or C-60.

Last set of photos.

This is the last batch of photographs that I have in the Watson Lake collection……unless some more are found.

I have no more information about these aircraft than I did about the others I have posted. Maybe someone else can put some flesh onto the bones.

The Barkely Grow and the Fokker shown in the pics belonged to Yukon Southern Air Transport (Grant McConachie!!!).

Would kill to have one of the A-20s or the P-39 in our collection.

Fitting these pics are here with the 70th Anniversary of the Northwest Staging route.

Many thanks for the tip about using Google to search for old threads. I never thought of trying that approach. You learn something new every day…..

I’ve found using Google rather than the forum’s own search works perfectly well as a substitute.
HTH!
