I have been looking all over the net and have finally signed up to this forum via advice from a fellow member, as I am searching for any photo memories from the Wattisham Airshow from August 1980.
This was the very first time that I had attended an airshow and always wanted to see some images from the event, if anybody has any to share.
I am on Flickr as Lightningboy2000 and can’t seem to find anything on there either.
Just for old memories sake really, and I was 10 years old at the time and can remember a couple of Black Arrows there as well as Lightnings and Phantoms.
If I remember, it was very bad weather for an August show.
Any help most appreciated!

I remember three Phantoms flying together and one of them being in the new grey scheme, possibly XV474. Also remember a solo Hunter.

I’d say I am 95 percent certain it was 1980 but then again my memory could be getting a bit hazy. For the moment I’m sticking with 1980 but any early pics from Wattisham Airshow around this time would be superb to see.
If according to your memory it was a filthy day weather wise and it was 1981 then i’ll go with that. I can still remember the overall grey camo Phantoms rising up at the eastern end of the runway into extremely low cloud straking along an extremely rain sodden runway.
