Does anyone have any reliable information about the NASA WB-57 which is supposedly detaching to Mildenhall in October please?

The ‘mystery’ WB 57 caused quite a stir in the eastern part of Holland a couple of weeks ago after a short sortie overhead Twente Airfield at about 1500′. This generated more than 100 112 (999) calls to the local constabulary and column inches in the local daily paper with several eye witness reports of a UFO and several ‘spyplane’ references!
Ain’t aviation grand! I live on the wrong side of the town to the airfield and missed it. Shame.

its been fairly busy recently, nothing like the standards of years gone by but the odd aircraft drops in now and then. You can safely photograph from the 29 end via the scrub ground or i think Johns old campsite is still on the go and piccy taking is usually ok.

Is it worth popping down to the ‘Hall these days?-or are you ‘disuaded’ from pointing anything at their aircraft?

and it does a brilliant climbout when the sun is shining.

I THOUGHT it was her I saw very high yesterday afternoon. Initially, I blamed my ageing eyesight as playing tricks!! Seen from Pershore on my Russian Kronos 20 x 60’s. Great to see (albeit greatly adapted) a design of the 40’s still in operational service. Thanks for pointing this out. J 🙂
