WE THAT ARE LEFT – NO.84 BOMBER SQUADRON, A FRAGMENT OF THEIR HISTORY
Check out this rare ‘home made’ 41 minute documentary covering No. 84 Bomber Squadron RAF flying Vultee Vengeance bombers in India and Burma during WWII. Also seen are some VERY low lever P-51 Mustangs in that very cool colour scheme with the diagonal stripes. And some great shots of their escorting Hurricanes while they are on a strike mission.
I believe the film maker Colin Papps was a New Zealander on the squadron. This is on a New Zealand government archive site. I am not sure if it may play in all other countries. I not, you will need a VPN to get it to play where you are.

Just as a little aside – for anybody interested in Vengeance Ops with the RAF – there is a PDF ebook by Dennis O’Leary (Danny 42C on pprune) titled ‘In with a Vengeance’,this book covers training in Florida and ops in Burma.
A 2nd book ‘Danny and the Cold War’ which covers his post war career and eventual move to Air Traffic.
Both books are very entertaining and (as far as I know ) are only available from ‘Geriaviator’ on pprune.
As you will see we have enjoyed countless stories about basic training both here and abroad, hair-raising tales such as Reg’s Halifax acquiring a bomb-shaped hole right through its fuselage from friends above, and teach yourself dive-bombing as related by Flt Lt Dennis O’Leary, the much loved Danny 42C who began posting in 2012. It was my pleasure to edit his memories into two e-books, In with a Vengeance dealing with his training in Florida and operating the Vultee Vengeance in Burma, and Danny and the Cold War, detailing post-war flying on Spitfire, Meteor and Venom, then ATC before demob and closing career as a VAT inspector.

Having to fly those Vultees was punishment enough, I should think.
