I haven’t tried any of those other games but I shall be on the lookout for them. I would recommend energy airforce. Some of the training flights are a bit of a pain (you must complete these before you can fly missions) but it feels exactly like a flight simulator, you can control so many things and have realistic displays etc.
not like Pacific Warriors II – Dogfight. You can’t do anything on that game…..I still end up playing it though…….perhaps I’m just strange……
I think that I will try Mercenaries later on though
I’ve seen Energy Air Force around, so might just pick it up sometime.
I’ve got Pacific Warriors II – I thought it was OK, but for a combat flight-sim, it was a bit dull. Certainly didn’t grab me as much as SWoN did.
I’ve been as far as getting the contract for the final baddy on Mercs., but got my ass kicked royally each time! I’ve been replaying it recently, and it’s still bloody addictive! I try hard to get each of the “aces” alive, to get more money, but it’s hard trying not to be too enthusiastic with your air-strikes and so on! 😀

You MUST try Mercenaries – I did a review of it a while back for our office e-mag. The ONLY thing I hate about it is it’s not a multi-player, which is sad. It would kick the ass out of everything in a similar vein if it just had that capability!

I’ve got that game…….haven’t played it yet 🙁 too busy working 🙁 but my brother has and it seems one hell of a game. Have you ever played energy airforce, Daz?????? 😀
I don’t go for many “jet” flight sims, since they’re pretty much all the same despite the fancy graphics etc, in my opinion.
The most annoying ones are the Japanese (Konami etc) ones like Ace Combat – endless, annoying R/T chatter! 😡
There is one I have (whose name escapes at present) where the pilots in your squadron seem to do nothing but rabbit back and forth, thus distracting you from blasting bandits! Totally annoying – but you do get a Spit 24 if you get enough points! 😀
Have you played Secret Weapons Over Normandy? Or Heroes of the Pacific?? Max. fun! 😀

Then you are missing out on all the havoc one can wreak whilst sniffing out North Korean dictators in the awesome “Mercenaries” – another Daz-endorsed game 😉

Spitfires?…
You sad, sad deluded people
The Spitfire was responsible for 1/3 of all enemy aircrft destroyed during the Battle of Britain and the Hurricane downed the other 2/3 (mosly bombers I think – sitting ducks). It wasn’t the Yanks that ‘saved our ass in World War Two’, as the famous saying goes, it was RAF fighter command and their Spitfires during the Battle of Britain!!!!
(ps. we also have the hurricane to thank and to give some of the credit back to the Americans they did lend us some damn fine fighter pilots!!!!)

I’m glad you put that last line in – You had me worried there for a while…
By: DazDaMan - 19th October 2005 at 09:16
Nope – just I have a wider perspective…
It’s only a Spitfire…
As do I. Why, just yesterday I was swatting down Japanese Zeros in a P-40! 😉
Last night, I had to bail out of a burning B-24 over Hungary (I think) and evade capture.
Ahhh, the sheer simple brilliance of a computer game! 😉
