Weapon bays, internal or external

What is the future balance between different types of weapon bays such as,
a) internal
b) CFL with integrated internal weapon bays (F15 Silent Eagle)
c) conformal/hidden (Eurofighter)
d) external and
e) external stealthy weapon pods.

Due to the large “wasted” internal volume and complexity of weapon bay doors, no fighters are likely to rely on 100% internal weapon storage. For example the internal weapon bays of JSF are indeed very limited.

The Eurofighters conformal weapon stations looks like a great idea, superior aerodynamically and probably much lower RCS than traditional storages.

The Gripen doesn’t apear to have any RCS reduction of **** storage nor the Rafale.
