Just checking the forecast for Cambridge during the Flying Legends show and it doesnt look too good. 🙁

BBC says ‘brighter later’, but were not specific on ‘how bright, or how late’
At least there should be more space at DX, as much of the ‘sports-loving’ Great British Public will be slumped at home watching other people propelling balls backwards and forwards. It has got to be worth paying £30 just to avoid that..

Here’s the Stansted TAF for today

Overall – the forecast is valid to three this afternoon – a 17kt wind from the SW gusting to 27kt. low, but not solid cloud, possible drizzle in the morning, the wind moderating as the afernoon goes on and coming more in line with the runway heading.

Weather in the west is not good either, strong winds, low cloud and showers.
All this is blowing east towards Duxford, but if the wind keeps up at least it may break up the cloud.

The Lanc was supposed to be landing but the last I read said it wasn’t.
Met Office says 20mph SW wind which doesn’t look promising – but I’m on my way anyway.
By: Pete Truman - 9th July 2006 at 09:22
I think the Lanc is just flying through at DX
Moggy
No it’s supposed to be landing today, but I can’t see this happening. I couldn’t go to DX yesterday because of madams birthday and a big family party that we had in the evening, today I feel awfull after swapping stories and drinking wine with her Hungarian old man, quite frankly anyway, the weather is so c###, it’s not worth going, and having read some of the reports of the wall to wall windbreaks and people with stepladders, I don’t fancy going anyway, though I quite liked the sight of the Hawk and Dewotine flying together, fantastic.

The weather down here is not good today, wind, rain and low cloud, it will probably have quite an effect on the displays and I can’t see the Lanc getting airborne in this.

Pete,
Breighton and Hucknall have the sun behind you. So has/did Church Fenton, and Finningly wasn’t bad either. Bit pointless mentioning those last two, wasn’t it?!
Chris
Good old Alconbury was a good one for the sun behind you….. 🙁
And of course Biggin Hill in it’s present format is sort of behind to a point. I remember the days though when you were looking into there though… 😮

Saturday will be the day…..Sunday weather will not be so good. Saturday is post frontal with westerly flow, and Sunday has a large blob of rubbish over the UK (occluded front). Yer pays yer money and yer takes yer choice. Me..I’m going on Saturday.
😀 😀 Agreed!! 😉

No storm yesterday but it’s all happening now, just seen the wierdest bolt of lightning over the village, it started as a dot then went round in a circle, glad I’m not flying out of Stansted.
My springer spaniel is c####### herself, she hates thunderstorms and her attitude unsettles our Jack Russell who isn’t normally afraid of anything.
I gathered from the wonderful weather girls that this is going to persist until saturday, so there won’t be much time for practising before the event.

…so, if it’s going to cool off a bit by the weekend, will Duxford be ‘the last of the phew’!! 😎

So far I’ve learned from here that the weather’s going to be crap, there aren’t enough Hurricanes on the list, the traffic will be terrible, there will be too many numpties with windbreaks and ladders there, if the weather isn’t crap it will be too hot…………..
You can pretty much ditto that for life in general.

It’s building up for nastiness outside, I’ve just brought in all the bedding out the tent, I hate thunderstorms as do the dogs, they’ve both come in and hidden under my sons bed, which is a bad omen, dogs know everything, I think I’ll retire to the cupboard under the stairs.

It’s so hot today that we think that the local primary school that was built in 1874 and has no insulation has sent all the kids home
H’RRumph! Kids of today! No stamina! They never sent me home for being too hot when I was there! Mind you, I didn’t get sent home when I felt poorly once and gave everyone mumps! Typhoid Mary, eat yer heart out!
Adrian
(praying for a torrential downpour here in Oxford. A: it’ll annoy lots of people who will all try to leave work at once to avoid it, then blame the council for the resulting gridlock and B: the allotment is just desperate for some water)

The gorgeous and awesomely mad Julie who I would run off with tommorrow has just anounced on Look East news that it will be rather pleasant on sunday with a bit of cloud and temps in the region of 22C.
It’s so hot today that we think that the local primary school that was built in 1874 and has no insulation has sent all the kids home, as all the neighbouring trampolines are fully at work, somewhat defeating the object, I would have thought.
I’ve just watched a news item about how you must keep your dogs inside, my 2 b###### are lying outside and won’t come in, they sense a hedgehog me thinks, silly sods, you touch them and they burn, but they don’t seem to care.
