Website owners read this !

Hi there chaps, not strictly relating to this forum but I thought i would post it here incase some of you don’t read the general discussion forum.

You may receive an email (directed to your website) containing a zip file attachment entiled “website.zip”. In our instance it came from somebody@radisson.com (the hotel chain). Upon opening the file there will be an .exe file that you are prompted to open. DO NOT open this file as it’s containing something nasty that will harm your computer. I hav’nt had the chance to open it up on a test machine and see what damage it will try to cause but hopefully I will get chance at work tomorrow. I’v scanned the email headers and traced the IP of the offending user. They are as expected are not from the Radisson as the email states. What they are possibly doing is just mail shotting any home or even commercial website address and hoping that anybody will recieve and execute the attached file. I have traced the offender down to their ISP and I have contacted them to inform of one of their clients malicious intentions. PLEASE NOTE….. Your anti virus will probably not pick this email up as the executable application has been hidden behind a zip folder.

I will try and test the virus out tomorrow and see what damage this little blighter is trying to acheive !!

Just thought I would let you website owners know because there could be a small chance you may recieve this email. I will keep you posted on the latest developments…….

G.

Thanks for the information. Since my site is uploaded to the Internet using 19th Century technology (a 56k modem), it would take some time to download the files to my computer again!
