I just spent a week aboard the HMCS Calgary. Thought I would share a few Naval Avation photos. I also have tons of other photos of the ship and if there is interest I could post some pics of the ship and such.
Here they are!

Hey Tid, how are you mate.
I know the article and the mag you speak of. Yes he does refer to there being more room in the older vessels but if you have ever served on both old and new you will know that in the older vessels, the design features were more akin to craming as many weapons and sencers in to the hulls as possible. Remember, there was a war on at the time (Some don’t call the Cold War a war, but people did die and there were hostilities- thus I do call it a war).
These days, what with miniturisation of sencers and plasma screens and superior computing power, more and more room can be given to making the crews more comfortable for long deployments, which also has a flow on effect in the form of retention of man power.
It is becoming very very hard these days to get any pics of crew living quaters and the excuse given to me has been a simple one: You don’t allow people into your home to take pics of how you live, why should we allow you into our home to do that. Sure the guy that said that to me was a gruff old PO who had been on patrolies for far too long, but he does have a point!

Tribal Crewing
Hi Entropy
Thanks for the pics., the crewing fascillities look reasonably OK,how do they compare with the Tribals. In an interview with a Canadian Captain? that I read recently he lauded the Command & Control features of the Huron & intimated that there was more room on the older ships for these features because that less room was used for crew fascillities in older designs, is this true. I will try and find the article or link, just interested thats all.
The ship in question was HMCS Algonquin & the captain was Capt. Ron lloyd, the article appeared in Warshipsifr Feb & March 2007 issues. My interest stemmed from the fact that there are few pics. of the internals of warships as against plenty of good pics taken at sea.Unfortunately not many warships pull into Canberra so I havent seen over a modern one for about 30 years.

Ahhhhh the Halifax class, I love those ships. The remind me of the Mk-4 Panzers of WWII, Squat things that are hard to hit and carry enough power to knock out just about anything taking them on.
I know it’s a tough call mate, but do you happen to have any pics of the flight control station?
Great pics though, thanks for sharing.
