I was going to go to Old Warden today as part of the Quax Flieger fleet from Germany were arriving for the Military Air Pageant on Sunday. Due to storms on the continent their departure was delayed and are not arriving until Thursday. So off to Duxford I went. Many thanks to TFC and ‘Team P-47’ for a look around their new project and special thanks to ‘Team Spitfire’ for a ride on the Mk XVIII, all the way to the tie down point out on the airfield for an engine run. After the safety brief and with ear defenders firmly in place, the Griffon was cranked up and the vibrations in the air from the prop was phenomenal. If they should ever find their missing RPMs and go full tilt, Whooo!!
