Hmmmm lunch…
>A duck’s quack doesn’t echo, and no one knows why.

RE: Weird Things You Would Never Know!!
Garry, the QWERTY keyboard was designed to have letters which are used a lot next to each other as far apart as possible on the keyboard. This was indeed ment to avoid jamming when to ‘stamps’ positioned next to each other were launched at the paper at very close intervals.
The first operational electric chair was in fact invented by a dentist. Alfred P. Southwick built was his name-o, and it was used effectively (=terminally) on axekiller William Kelmer on Augustus 6, 1860.
Even more useless: the most expensive coffee around, Kopi Luak, is made by coffeebeans which are eaten, digested and excremented by some sort of mongoose-like marsupial called paradoxurus.
An average toilet visit consumes 8,6 sheets of toilet paper. An average person uses 20805 sheets a year.
If you keep a goldfish in the dark for a longer period of time, it will turn white.
Hey, i do this for a living (well, a part of my job actually is compilinge useless factsheets).

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-08-02 AT 06:22 PM (GMT)]Women blink twice as much as men, because it attracts men. The eyes are very important organs for ‘reproduction’, it’s just a natural process. OK, it’s just about sex 😀
The guillotine was also invented by a French doctor.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-08-02 AT 01:22Â AM (GMT)]”Butterflies taste with their feet.”
I smell with mine… }>
“Elephants are the only animals that can’t jump.”
What about white men? 🙂
…or dead animals? }>
“Women blink nearly twice as much as men.”
I thought people who are lying blink more often than people who are not lying… perhaps when they were measuring how often men and women blinked they were also asking questions like “How old are you?”, and “How much do you weigh?” … }>
“Our eyes are always the same size from birth, but our nose and ears never stop growing.”
I am pretty sure my ears and nose will stop growing after I am cremated…
“All polar bears are left handed.”
Polar bears are actually rather smart… they know their black noses stand out from the generally white back ground and while stalking prey they hide their noses with their paws.
“TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.”
What about.. “dfaslkdjgalgkjalfgjadlfkhfadhdfasgkjhakhgkaldfhsakldf”
or did you just mean English words?
The qwerty typewriter keyboard layout was designed especially to favour left handed typists and also to slow down typing speed. Most typists were right handed. Early mechanical typewriters jammed if two keys were pressed too quickly so the keys were organised to reduce the typists speed to try to avoid very high speeds where the print arms might collide and lock together.

RE: Weird Things You Would Never Know!!
Thats not true about the electric chair being invented by a dentist. It was invented by none other than Thomas Edison. There were alot of complaints about hanging being used for capital punishment because alot of people werent dying right away, but slowly being strangled to death. Thomas Edison was fiercly opposed to alternating current, so to prove that it was dangerous, he suggested using, and built an electric chair. The first electricution was a failure, the person did not die during the first try, and there was smoke coming out his head, it took to more trys to finally kill him.

RE: Weird Things You Would Never Know!!
Hi, Kab
You were bored weren’t you?
“It’s possible to lead a cow upstairs…but not downstairs.”
Who found that one out, and more to the point, why?
“The electric chair was invented by a dentist.”
Now that I can believe!
“If Barbie were life-size, her measurements would be 39-23-33. She would stand seven feet, two inches tall.”
Obviously her inventor had a bit of a penchant for statuesque women.
“Americans on average eat 18 acres of pizza every day”
Surely not every American?
