I had a the same dream weekly for over eighteen years.

It involved walking through a small village with stone fronted houses with very small front gardens. The setting is reminiscent of somewhere in the Cotswolds or Wiltshire. I started at the top of the hill on the right hand side and walked down to where the road forked and a railway line crossed the two roads. In the apex of the fork stood a large Mill of some kind.
There were no cars, and no people, but I was able to walk inside both shops and look around. The first shop was at the top of the hill and was a newsagent/sub post office. The second shop was also on the right hand side and was a small convenience shop.

I have not had this dream for over 6 years or so, maybe longer. but I can still see every detail in my minds eye even tonight sat here writing this. I have travelled the length and breadth of this country but have never seen this place before, let alone walked through it.

I wonder if that place really exists and if so, where the hell is it!

*Footnote*

A partner of a friend who dabbles a little in Tarot and other mystical beliefs says that I probably haunt the place in times of deep sleep. She went on to say that although I didnt see anyone in the dream, it wasnt to say that I would not be invisible to certain people living in the village. This would seem that I appear to them as a ghostly image. It is her belief that ghosts are not what we think they are. She is a little like a Stevie Nicks character bless here, a little hippyish and ‘airy fairy’ so I did tend to take her statement with a pich of salt

1/2 scale = 12″. Every guy knows that is real Man-measurements. 😀

Funnily enough if I’ve had a skin full I dream I am drinking water and it doesn’t quench my thirst, I then wake up and have a mouth like a Arabs flip flop and need a drink of water badly.

My girlfriend and I worked until quite late on Saturday evening, finished more or less the same time (separate jobs), and met up to go for some Sushi and a nice “quiet drink” afterwards, just to chill after a long day working. Both of us got completely ‘Bungalowed’ (p*ssed as pillocks), decided to go to the Cinema to see The Man of Steel, don’t remember a thing about that, somehow ended up home… no idea how we got from the Cinema… somehow, I suddenly discovered that my foot had a Snare Drum attached to it, no idea how that happened, (girlfriend’s Snare Drum… wasn’t a happy bunny), she then decided to think it was a very good idea to juggle with one of my Guitars, specifically my Gibson Les Paul Custom ‘Black Beauty’, somehow it ended up sliding across the Kitchen floor with one of her Converse All Star shoes tied to it… Once again, no idea how that happened…. then all of a sudden were in a heavy discussion about how overly-dramatic the new Carte D’or advert is… Not sure why… as well as wondering why on earth we had four 14″ Pizzas delivered at 2am in the morning…

Very odd. That felt like a dream but wasn’t.

I just hope when my time comes, it’s in my sleep, quick and painless.

A pathologist told me once during a P.M. that 03.00. is when folks are the most likely to die in their sleep.

Exactly.

It’s living that worries me not dying.

How true that is!!

Exactly.

It’s living that worries me not dying. And if we are all to come to an end when some bit of rock hits us then that’s fine. My own personal ‘exit route’ is clearly planned and permanently available at a moment’s notice.

The way I see it is that one day the earth will end and there is absolutely b**** all any of us can do about it so when it comes, it comes. I cannot give it a moment’s thought.

My end of the world dream was very scary. Can’t stop thinking about that dream i had. Well least im worried about 99942 Apophis Asteriod that’s supposed to go around earth in 2029 which is a huge asteriod. Many observations say that if it misses earth than it will come back on April 13, 2036 to create a huge impact to earth. It’s on a Friday, very scared and i want to know if there’s still life while dead.

Anyways…. sorry acting like a little scared girl as the purposes. 😉

It occurred to me that we might hear from you, Linc. It is not, of course, just servicemen but anyone who encounters extremes of human injury or death. Any of the rescue services could also be included. And we hear of those innocent witnesses to catastrophe or those who have personally suffered being affected in the same way. The degree of the effect will depend on the individual but I can empathise with anyone who has to live with sights and events they wish they could erase from the memory. Mine are of the Skopje earthquake in then Yugoslavia in 1963, in which about 80% of the town was destroyed. Our train to Greece was a few kilometres outside the town when it struck and we were marooned for hours and eventually walked into the devastation.

I still have flashbacks from years ago, when one evening I was shot in my L/H side, whilst attending an incident on the Force, So bad were the circumstances of that evening, I had Counciling, and have been on Nitrazipam to make me get a good nights sleep, I have been on them for so long, I am considered to be an addict, so in my own little world Paul, I can empathise with you.

That doesn’t surprise me in the least and no doubt other members who have served will share your experiences to a greater or lesser extent. Well, you might be right, and the Lee Clegg example is appalling, but exceptional, I think you would agree.

This could have been triggered by the Army. I have horrendous nightmares about that time. As for wishing I was dead, now maybe when everything gets to much but not when I was fit as a fiddle. As for killing anyone who was shooting at me believe me I tried but never suceeded. If I had thanks to the British government I would probably end up facing a travesty of justice like Lee Clegg.

I have very wierd dreams but I live on morphine. As to what they are to use an old saying “Mums the word!”

I will pass on one nightmare though that I have had for about 40 years. It is a man that points a shotgun at me and kills me. I get that about 4-5 times a year.

Anyone out there that can make sense of that?(and I wish they would is not an answer I want!):D

Perhaps sometimes you wish you were dead. Or if you killed anyone when you were in the army perhaps you are reliving it in reverse. Amateur shrink session over!!;)

Wow,

I actually remember this dream.

Well in the dream, i was sleeping then these fireworks were starting to pop , then i got up and saw what was going on so the fireworks were poping like its a place on where to stop at,
so then initially this weird giant orange thing was like a ball of fire, then after minutes came i figured out it was a huge asteriod about to hit earth.
So then couple of minutes later i started to stare at watching coming down then BOOM!
Came splashing to the ground and killing dozens of people, but i woke up and was devastated about the dream. Looked out my apartment window and it was dark around 5:00 AM. But saw nothing, no fireworks and no huge asteriod. Was very scared and couldn’t belive such a dream would be devasting. Was about the world ending

How about you look at these videos, 10 common nightmares.
