They can always recreate its demise by using a P47 🙂

MODERATORS — Please move this to the appropriate forum. Tiger tanks don’t fly, and a certain moderator’s love of a certain subject in a faraway land does not qualify this thread for “HISTORIC AVIATION”.

There are only nine Tiger II tanks (or projects to rebuild / replicate one) in the world today.

‘Complete’ examples: two in the United Kingdom, one in Russia, one in the United States, one in Switzerland, one in France (running) and one in Belgium (still standing roughly where it was abandoned by the Germans during the ‘Battle-of-the-Bulge’).

‘Incomplete projects’: one in the United Kingdom (Wheatcroft) and now this French recovery.

They are rare, but not as rare as the original Tiger I tanks.

Yes, turret number 233 is the example from the Musee des Blindes, Saumur in France, and is the only currently working Tiger II.

I don’t believe Bruce Compton has ever had a Tiger II, there are only about a dozen of so left….I think he was collecting parts for a Tiger I, and he had a Panther as well at one point.

A complete Tiger 2 is a rare beast and only about 10 survive in various conditions and finding parts is extremely hard I know the wheatcroft Collection have been trying to build one for a number of years, a restoration is possible but might be prohibitively expensive.

Good luck to them hopefully it will be safe and looked after.

For those who don’t follow the military vehicles market closely (like myself), you might be surprised to learn that some, types I thought were rather common, can bring surprising money at auctions if well restored.

The hull and turret survive so hopefully the majority of it can be reused.Theres a small but dedicated cottage industry remaking Panzer parts now. Will she be at Legends?

At least with a Tiger, there is a chance that there might be something left of use (aside from dataplates).

Now come on BN352, we all know the buried Spitfire saga has a long way to run still.
