Greetings,
The Wellington Aero Club here in NZ just celebrated it’s 75th Jubilee and I went along to take some pics.
There were mostly light aircraft there, but in addition, were 2 Chipmunks, a Tiger Moth, a Nanchang CJ-6A, and a T-6.
Hope you enjoy the pics (apologise for the quality of 1 or 2)
🙂
Cheers
Chris

Thanks Super Guppy.
I agree, that Ju-52 looks ghastly !!!!:(

Probably was…Omaka is about 10 minutes flying time from Nelson and the Jay (the pilot) said he takes it all around the country for displays.
I got to sit in the cockpit. They are very roomy, made to sit in with a chute obviously.
Great aircraft and apparently very good value for money.:D

Thanks Dave,
Yes that is the same Harvard based in Masterton.
So is the Tiger. They’re both part of the NZ Sport and Vintage Aviation Society Masterton.
Whittakers get behind vintage vehicles. They sponsor a lot of classic car meets and airshows and also, Andrew Whittaker (Great Grandson I believe) races a classic TVR race car himself.
The colour scheme (Victorian style) suits the Tiger perfectly I believe and looks great in the flesh (fabric ??)
The Nanchang is based in Omaka. They charge about $100 for a 25 minute flight down there which is not too bad. Thinking seriously of doing it.
Thats a great pic of the Rapide.

Well that didn’t seem to work. I will try once again. I think the original attempt was too large a file. If this doesn’t work I might need to be told what to do, this is my first time attaching a photo

Nice Pictures Chris. Is that lovely Harvard the one from Masterton that the late Stan Quill used to fly?
Where is the Whittakers’ Tiger based? Nice scheme. Seems odd seeing sponsorship on vintage aircraft like that. It reminds me of when DH89 ZK-AKY wore the Monteiths scheme in the 1980’s. Here’s a picture I took of it around about 1987 in Hamilton (at my first ever air show I think from memory) if i have attached it right

Where’s the Wellington? I want a Wellington!
Nice pics, though.
