Asking for someone researching for a painting they are doing.
Would anyone know what colour the markings were for Wellington X of 432 Sqn RAF
Sgt R. Burgess RAF and crew, flying Wellington X HF-493 coded QO-C.
It was hit by flak The wings and fuel tanks were damaged. Sgt A. Dabous RCAF, the bomb aimer, bailed out over enemy territory. On return to England they were short of fuel, and with low cloud and fog the crew bailed safely (04:20) and the Wellington crashed near Gravesend.
Many thanks ๐

Hello Trumper
Without wishing to be pedantic, please note that 432 (Leaside) Squadron is an Article XV RCAF squadron and not an RAF Squadron.
Formed on 1 May 1943 at Skipton on Swale, as the 12th R.C.A.F bomber squadron, and part of No. 6 (R.C.A.F.) Group. I would tend to agree with Eddie that it would be in standard Bomber Command dull red letters, and camouflage scheme for the time.
I have only two small photos, neither in colour, and neither of a Wellington – sorry!
Cheers
Allan

You missed the date, Gary! It was 3/4 July 1943. By then Iโd say there was a high probability that it would have been the โclassicโ Bomber Command dull red letters.
