Rotor Governor Null Indicator

Sits on top of the HAS1 panel, possibly modded out later. Has anyone got a decent picture of one of these?

Could this be for the Wessex HAS1? Has anyone got a picture of where it fits?

I’m guessing this may have been for the flotation bags, but not sure.

What about this one? it seems similar in function to two more complex boxes in the HAS1 centre console.

Part number 6T/3625 WB5 82-950

The null trim pots for the hover in ASW coupled to the sonar cable. The hover height for the HAS1 was IIRC 30ft, the sonar had to be vertical at the end of the cable to get optimum scan. In the centre console between the pilots.

The HAS3 with the 195 sonar just had a switch taking the hover reference from Doppler to cable, no trimming needed.

Yes: it was part of the panel over the looker’s plot above the fresnel lens display of the radar

That’s a back seat piece of kit: the looker (observer) would dial up the range and bearing of the gate to the next dip position, which would be shown in the centre of the pilots compass. Great aid for the drivers, but sadly dropped in the Sea King HAS1.

A bit of history now, removed from XP142 Humphrey “scrapped aircraft!” a HAS3 a matter of days before it was taken to FAAM.

There isn’t one on these fitted to the HAS3 at Hurn so where does it fit? – and what has poor old Humphrey got fitted now?

Yes, thanks Tony, see attached for slightly different version.

The general problem is finding pictures of in-service equipment (which may well have been Secret) from a period when the internet and digital cameras were not as popular as today.

Problem with the first one is it is part of the Decca Tans? fit I think, which means it was probably ripped out in the 80’s ish, so no surviving Wessex will still have it in, I cannot remember it in our HC2’s, the mount was there though.

This was the map display for it if memory serves me correctly.
