Westjet and Bombardier

I was watching the news here last night and apparently Westjet is to commence international services from Toronto to Cuba and the Domincan Republique this winter in direct competition with Air Canada. Thought topic related to Airliner World article this month.

Also, Bombardier announced it is going to lay off some two thousand workers due to decline in orders post 9/11. This is a major company in Canada, and altough our economy is holding steady, this is a clear indication that we are not out of the woods yet.

Sort of two complete opposite ends of the Canadian airline/aviation spectrum.
