Does anyone know if this helicopter is still extant?
I believe it was de-registered around 1989.

Roger Windley has delt with all sorts of aircraft over the years as an insurance store and himself as an operator. The reason they still exist is that its a bit removed from being a traditional ‘scrappy’ !

Many Thanks for the Photo of the Whirlwinds, VX927 ..
very interesting, I did email the scrap yard, but as of yet I have not recieved a reply .
but the photo is great VX927.. Hmm, wonder what is in store for these to old birds
The fact they are in a scrappy may suggest a future, but of course isn’t necessarily final….
Kind Regards
Scotty

It’s a very poor quality photo but you can see the two Whirlwinds in this photo.

And they got the tail-rotor rotation direction wrong on XJ763…!.
erm…like it mattered when they dumped it there.

Circa 1989 I met a fellow who had a Whirlwind.
I saw it somewhere and he allowed me to sit in the PIC seat…not without some scalp blood shed caused by hitting something on entry.
IIRC, he was the head of a USAF base flying club.
I think the helicopter was soon damaged in a roll-over.
Anyone with any details? Was it BKHC?
