Weston Air Festival

No one else go? Two days of excellent weather and a free airshow?

Sun (and a new DSLR) was a bit challenging for good photo’s though

The application of after sun has not improved my lobster like face but not dimmed the enjoyment. Un cropped photos here. The Venom was a particular treat. I didn’t realise that helicopters were on display or would have come over and looked.

Yes…I was chatting to the Sally B crew on Sunday morning.They were surprised to learn that she had visited Weston before…in 1976 at the old Weston Air Day on the now closed airfield. I recall it was taxied off the edge of the concrete and the organisers had to get in a heavy duty tow truck to get her back on !

You sound as though you certainly enjoyed the day. Glad the youngsters enjoyed it too.

Yes! I was certainly there! Be rude not to being that I live in Weston!

Fantastic weather and a great show. A good, full program that seemed to be a massive improvement over previous years. Great display from the Canberra and good to see Sally B there this year. Vulcan was fab as usual, although maybe a tad late? A lot of folk started drifting off thinking that it was going to be a no show. Wasn’t expecting the Venom…but did I miss the Sea Vixen?? Oh, and of course the Reds…another flawless display from them that thrilled my kids…they haven’t stopped talking about it.

Looking forward to next year and well done to all involved!

Regards;
Steve

That flying Whirlwind would of been worth seeing just on its own. Any pics of it?

Great weekend .the appearance of the last flying Whirlwind 10 XJ729 at the Helicopter Museum static park on the lawns was another first for the sadly diminished HeliDays team ,but already talk about something bigger and better as part of the show next year….Off now to nurse my sunburn!

And that’s what it’s all about really. I even have fond memories of the few wet air shows I’ve experience.

An excellent day out. Wine and sunburn prevent a more eloquent or illustrated reply but I have some damned good photos and memories.
