Weston Airfield Hunter Varsity ??

Hi all,

Ive heard rumours of a Hawker hunter, and a Varsity on the fire dump in the 1960s .. and wondered if any of you remember this .. also told of a old crop duster type, very damaged, and pushed in a hedge.

all the above at Weston super mare.. can anyone remember this, or have photos??.. I am wondering when i found a few bits of aircraft there at weston…
perhaps i had stumbled across the old fire dump area ? .

No.1 Radio School, Weston had Hunter F.1 7500M/WT616, which I saw derelict in a field on perimeter, 8/62 and have as scrapped there 1980. Same date, Varsity WF408, which moved on as 8395M to Cosford/Northolt/E.Grinstead. (Same day, Western Airways was overhauling T.170/31M, IAF331, Iraqi AF).

cripes, the hunter was derelict on the airfield as long as that, 62.. and finally scrapped in 1980.. i was a mere boy of 8 years old then. someone mentioned maybe i found the old fire dump.. who knows ..

does anyone have any photo’s of the hunter at weston.. I heard she was upside down on the fire dump for many a year ??
